Well, lemme tell ya ’bout fishin’ at that Rend Lake. They say it’s a real hot spot for catchin’ all sorts of fish. Don’t rightly know how many kinds, but they say more’n 30! Heard tell they count ’em every year or somethin’.
Now, that lake’s got a whole lotta shoreline, miles and miles of it. Must be near 162, if I recall what they said. And places to put yer boat in? Plenty of ’em! More’n 20, I reckon. And they got these things called “fish attractors” all over. Don’t rightly know what they look like, but they say the fish like ’em.
Want to know ’bout the weather for fishin’? Well, they got forecasts and such. You can find out if it’s gonna rain or be sunny, if the wind’s gonna blow. All that stuff. Just look it up online, they say.
They update the fishin’ report every single day. Every day! So you know what’s bein’ caught and where. Helps ya find them big ones, they say.
- They say this Rend Lake is real good for crappie, catfish, and them bass fish. Built it back in ’73, they did. Puttin’ a dam on the Big Muddy River and Casey Fork, whatever that means. It’s kinda long, goes north to south.
Now, them crappie, they’re startin’ to come in close to the shore. Gettin’ ready to lay their eggs, I guess. Folks are catchin’ a bunch of ’em, big ones too. Ten inches or more! In water that ain’t too deep, four to eight foot. You can book a trip with a guide if ya want.
Up north of that Route 154 road, the lake gets kinda shallow. Most of it’s ten foot deep or less. But that’s where the fish like to hang out, they say. Best fishin’ spots up there, apparently.
And if you’re catchin’ them crappie, you can keep 25 of ’em. White crappie, black crappie, hybrid crappie… don’t rightly know the difference, but they say you can keep 25.
So, if you’re lookin’ for a place to go fishin’, this Rend Lake sounds like a good bet. Lots of fish, lots of places to fish from. Just check the weather and the report, and you’ll be good to go.
