Well, let me tell ya ’bout this here Boones Ferry Marina. It ain’t nothin’ fancy, mind you, but it gets the job done. Folks ’round here, they been usin’ this ferry crossin’ for ages, long before I was even a twinkle in my daddy’s eye. They say it started way back in 1847, can you believe that? Way before all these fancy cars and bridges, they had this here cable ferry. Yep, a rope and a boat, pullin’ folks and their stuff across the Willamette River. It was a big deal back then, connectin’ Portland to that place called Champoeg, where the government folks used to hang out.
Now, the ferry itself is gone, been gone since 1954 they say. But the name, Boones Ferry, it stuck around. And now we got this here Boones Ferry Marina. It’s where folks keep their boats, ya know, the ones they use for fishin’ or just messin’ around on the river. I ain’t got no boat myself, too old for that kinda stuff, but I see plenty of folks goin’ in and out. Young fellas with their fancy speedboats, old timers with their little fishin’ boats, all sorts.
This marina, it ain’t just a place to park your boat, though. They got services, whatever that means. I reckon they fix your boat if it’s broke, maybe sell you some gas, that kinda thing. They got docks and slips, places to tie up your boat so it don’t float away. And I hear tell they got a phone number too, in case you need to call ’em up. But I ain’t never used it myself, I just walk on down there sometimes to watch the river go by.
- They got places to keep your boat, big ones and small ones.
- They can fix your boat if it’s broken, I think.
- You can call them on the phone if you need something.
It’s located at 26177 Boones Ferry Crossing Northeast, if you need to find it. Not too hard to get to, just follow the road down by the river. I see folks comin’ from all over, not just from around here. Guess they heard it’s a good place to keep your boat, or maybe they just like lookin’ at the water like I do. It’s peaceful, ya know? Just sittin’ there, watchin’ the boats go by, listenin’ to the water lap against the shore. Takes your mind off things, all the worries and troubles of the world.
I heard some folks complainin’ about the prices, sayin’ it’s too expensive. But that’s how it is everywhere these days, ain’t it? Everything costs a fortune. Still, folks keep comin’ back, so I reckon it must be worth it. They wouldn’t keep their boats there if it wasn’t a good place, right? And like I said, they got services and all that, so maybe that’s why it costs a bit more. I wouldn’t know, I ain’t never owned a boat in my life.
Some folks, they come here for the reviews, you know, to see what other people think. They read them on their computin’ machines or their phones, whatever they call them. I ain’t got no use for that newfangled technology, but I guess it helps some folks make up their minds. Me, I just go by what I see with my own two eyes. And what I see is a marina that’s been here a long time, servin’ the community and keepin’ folks happy. That’s good enough for me.
So, if you’re lookin’ for a place to keep your boat, or just wanna take a gander at the river, Boones Ferry Marina is the place to be. It ain’t the fanciest place in the world, but it’s got what you need. And it’s got a whole lotta history behind it, too. Just remember that cable ferry, chuggin’ its way across the river, bringin’ folks together. That’s somethin’ special, ain’t it? And that spirit, it lives on, right here at Boones Ferry Marina.
