Well, now, let me tell ya ’bout this Lake Lytle place in Oregon. It ain’t nothin’ fancy, mind you, but it’s got its own kinda charm.
Lake Lytle, it’s in that Rockaway Beach town. You know, the one by the ocean? Yep, that’s the place. This lake, though, it ain’t the ocean. It’s a freshwater lake, they say. Means it ain’t salty like the sea.
They tell me it’s about 65 acres big. Now, I ain’t measured it myself, but that sounds about right. Not too big, not too small, just kinda… middlin’. Perfect for a lazy afternoon, if you ask me.
Folks like to fish there, I hear. Rainbow trout, they say. They dump ’em in there durin’ spring, March to May, or somethin’ like that. Good eatin’, them trout. If you can catch ’em, that is. Fishin’ ain’t always easy, you know.
- You can go swimmin’ there, too, if the water’s warm enough.
- And they got boats. Little ones, I reckon. Nothin’ too fancy, but good enough to paddle around on the water.
- And the scenery, well, it ain’t half bad. Trees and them sand hills all around. Pretty as a picture, some folks say.
Now, this lake, it ain’t been there forever, you know. They built it way back when, in 1897, they say. Needed water for the town, and they was hopin’ to get a hospital built there too. For folks with… well, never you mind what kinda folks. Just a hospital, that’s all. And they named it after some fella named John Lytle. He musta been important, I guess.
It’s a quiet kinda place, Lake Lytle. You can just sit and watch the birds, if that’s your kinda thing. Or watch the folks fishin’. Or just stare at the water. Lotsa folks like doin’ that. Just sittin’ and thinkin’, or maybe not thinkin’ at all. Nothin’ wrong with that, I say.
They got houses and stuff around there, too. You can rent ’em, I hear. Stay for a while, if you like. Spend a week or two, fishin’ and swimmin’ and relaxin’. Sounds like a good time, don’t it?
It’s easy to get to, too. Right off that Highway 101. Can’t miss it, really. Just look for the water. And the trees. And the sand hills. And them folks fishin’. You’ll find it.
So, if you’re ever in that Rockaway Beach area, and you’re lookin’ for somethin’ to do, somethin’ peaceful and quiet, you might wanna check out Lake Lytle. It ain’t the ocean, no, but it’s got its own kinda charm. A good place to just… be. You know what I mean?
Anyways, that’s all I know ’bout Lake Lytle. Just a little lake in Oregon. Nothin’ fancy, but nice. Real nice.
