Well, let me tell ya ’bout fishin’ in that there Fightingtown Creek. Folks say it’s a real good place to catch fish, some even call it award-winning, whatever that means. I ain’t no fancy fisherman, but I do like to catch a mess of trout now and again.
When to go fishin’, you ask? Well, spring and summer are the best times, that’s for sure. Them fish, they get hungry after a long winter, just like the rest of us. And there’s plenty of bugs and such for them to eat, so they’re bitin’ good. Mornin’s and evenin’s are best, when them bugs are hatchin’ and flyin’ around. That’s when the fish are lookin’ for a meal.
Now, Fightingtown Creek, it’s a long creek, winds all through the county, they say. Heard it dumps out into the Ocoee River, over by that there chemical plant. Don’t know nothin’ ’bout that plant, but the creek, it’s got plenty of fish. They say it’s the most famous trout stream around here, and I reckon that’s true.
- Spring and Summer: Best time for fishin’, when the fish are hungry.
- Mornings and Evenings: Fish are bitin’ when the bugs are hatchin’.
- Fightingtown Creek: Famous trout stream, winds through the county.
I ain’t been fishin’ all over, but I heard tell of some other creeks nearby. Wildcat Creek, Rock Creek, Coopers Creek, Tallulah River, and that Toccoa River up above Blue Ridge Lake. Folks say they got trout too, especially if they just stocked ’em. But I mostly stick to Fightingtown Creek, it’s close to home and I know where the good spots are.
Now, some folks use fancy poles and lines, and all sorts of fancy lures. Me? I like to keep it simple. A good ol’ pole, some worms or maybe some crickets, and that’s all I need. Sometimes I use those little shiny things, spinners they call ’em, but mostly I stick to what I know.
Findin’ a good spot is important too. You gotta look for where the water is movin’, but not too fast. And where there’s rocks and logs, that’s where the fish like to hide. You gotta be patient too, fishin’ ain’t always easy. Sometimes you can sit there for hours and not catch a thing. But then, sometimes, you can pull in a big ol’ trout, and that makes it all worthwhile.
I heard some folks talkin’ about an app, somethin’ on their phone, that helps ’em find fishin’ spots. Well, I ain’t got no fancy phone, and I don’t need no app to tell me where to fish. I been fishin’ these creeks my whole life, and I know where to go. Just gotta use your eyes and your ears, and a little bit of common sense.
And let me tell ya, there ain’t nothin’ better than catchin’ a mess of trout and fryin’ ’em up for supper. Fresh fish, crispy and golden brown, with a side of cornbread and some greens. That’s what I call a good meal. And it’s even better when you caught them fish yourself, right outta Fightingtown Creek.
So, if you’re lookin’ for a good place to fish, you might want to give Fightingtown Creek a try. Just remember to be respectful of the creek, and don’t leave no trash behind. And don’t go tellin’ everyone about my secret fishin’ spots, ya hear? I don’t want everyone and their brother fishin’ there.
One more thing, some places got cabins and such you can stay in if you’re comin’ from far off. Heard they got TVs and microwaves and even fireplaces. Don’t know why you’d need a TV when you got fishin’ to do, but to each their own, I reckon. Anyways, it’s nice to have a warm place to sleep after a long day on the creek.
So, that’s about all I gotta say about fishin’ in Fightingtown Creek. It’s a good place, with plenty of fish, if you know what you’re doin’. Now get out there and wet a line!
