Alright, listen up, y’all. Gonna tell ya ’bout fishin’ down in that Los Suenos place, Costa Rica. Heard it’s some kinda fancy place, but the fishin’, well, that’s somethin’ everyone can understand.
Fishin’ in Los Suenos, Costa Rica – What You Need to Know
Now, they got all sorts of fish down there. Big ones, small ones, some you eat, some you just take a picture of and throw back. They talk about “billfish,” sounds fancy, right? But it’s just big fish, like marlin and sailfish. Tough to catch, I hear, but boy, they sure are somethin’ to see. And then there’s tuna, yellowfin they call it. Good eatin’, that is. And mahi-mahi, another one good for the pan. Oh, and wahoo, fast as lightning, they say. Sounds like a whole lotta fish to me.

- Wahoo: Super fast, hard to catch.
Folks say the fishin’ on the Pacific side of Costa Rica is better than the other side. More fish, different kinds, that’s what they tell me. Guess that Los Suenos place is on the good side, lucky for them.
Now, when to go fishin’? That’s important. You don’t wanna go when the water’s all choppy and rough. They say from ’bout mid-January to mid-May is good, and then again in September and October. That’s when the water’s calm, they say. Calm water means happy fishin’, or so I’ve heard. But them locals, they know best. Always ask a local fisherman, that’s what I say. They know the water, they know the fish, they know when to go.

I seen some folks talkin’ ’bout fishin’ reports. Sounds like they keep track of what folks are catchin’. September 2024, they was catchin’ some good fish, I guess. December 2024, too. They got reports from that Los Suenos Marina place. Guess you can check those out if you wanna know what’s bitin’. They even got pictures, so you can see for yourself.
And if you wanna go fishin’ there, you gotta get yourself on a boat, a “charter” they call it. Jaco, that’s another place nearby, you can get a boat there too. They’ll take you out to the good spots, where the fish are bitin’. You can fish close to shore, or go way out deep. Depends on what you wanna catch, I reckon.
Types of Fishing in Los Suenos:
They got different kinds of fishin’, too. “Inshore,” that’s close to the land. “Bottom fishin’,” that’s when you drop your line down deep. And then there’s the “offshore” stuff, that’s where you get the big boys, the billfish and all that. Lots of choices, I tell ya.

Now, I ain’t never been to Los Suenos myself, but I heard tell it’s a good place to fish. Lots of fish, pretty water, and folks who know what they’re doin’. If you’re lookin’ for a fishin’ trip, might be worth checkin’ out. Just remember to listen to the locals, they know the secrets of the sea.
