This week, I heard tell that folks was catchin’ lake trout over in the West Bay. Out by Mission Point, in 150 feet of water, they say. Successful as all get out, they were.
Now, what you gonna use for bait? That’s the million dollar question, ain’t it? Some folks use wigglers, some use minnows. And them perch pounders, them seem to work for the perch. Speakin’ of perch, they been bitin’ good up north, at Northport and Bowers Harbor, they say.

They got ’em for Traverse City, and for Kalamazoo too, though I don’t know why you’d need a report from Kalamazoo if you’re fishin’ up here. Anyways, them reports tell ya what’s bitin’ and where. They even tell ya what kinda bait to use sometimes.
But the most important thing is to have fun. That’s what fishin’s all about, ain’t it? Gettin’ out on the water, enjoyin’ the sunshine, and maybe catchin’ a fish or two. And if you don’t catch nothin’, well, that’s alright too. There’s always next time.
