Well, let me tell ya ’bout this Wade Reservoir place in Oregon. I ain’t no fancy writer, just gonna tell it like it is, you know?
Fishin’ at Wade Reservoir
Heard tell there’s fish in that there water. Lots of folks go fishin’ there, I reckon. They say you can catch all kinds, though I ain’t never been there myself. My old man, he used to fish, but he never went to no Wade Reservoir. He liked the creek down by the old mill better. But this here Wade Reservoir, they say it’s got bass, and trout, and maybe even some of them catfish. I ain’t sure what kinda fish exactly, but folks say it’s good fishin’. You gotta get yourself a license though, don’t wanna get in trouble with the game warden. Them fellas don’t mess around. If you want to know what’s bitin’, you gotta check them fish activity reports. They tell ya the best spots and what kinda bait to use. I heard tell there’s even these here tide tables and moon charts, somethin’ about how the moon pulls the water and makes the fish bite more. Sounds like a bunch of hooey to me, but some folks swear by it.
- Good for bass fishin’
- Maybe some trout too
- Don’t forget your license!
Wade Reservoir – What’s It Like?
Now, I ain’t seen this place with my own two eyes, but I heard it’s a big ol’ lake. Not like them little ponds we got around here. This here’s a reservoir, which means they dammed up a river or somethin’ to make it. I guess that makes the water deep. Deep enough for them fish to hide, I reckon. They say it’s pretty too, with trees and all around. Good place to take the grandkids, maybe have a picnic. Just watch out for them snakes, they like to hang out by the water. And don’t go swimmin’ if you ain’t a good swimmer. That water’s deep, like I said, and it can be cold too, even in the summer. Them mountains make the weather tricky, one minute it’s sunshine, the next it’s rainin’ cats and dogs.
Fishing Spots Near Wade Reservoir
Now, if Wade Reservoir ain’t doin’ it for ya, there’s other places to fish nearby. I hear tell of some creeks, Wade Creek they call ’em. But there’s two of ’em! One’s near Sandy, and the other’s near Newport. Don’t get ’em mixed up, now. Sandy’s inland, and Newport’s on the coast. Different fish in them places, I reckon. Sandy’s probably got trout, and Newport, well, it’s near the ocean, so maybe you can catch somethin’ salty. And then there’s them other reservoirs, and the big ol’ ocean. Oregon’s got plenty of places to fish, that’s for sure. You just gotta find the right spot. Folks use these newfangled apps to find good spots too. They call it FishAngler or somethin’. Says it helps you find new places to fish. Guess it’s like havin’ a fancy fishin’ buddy in your pocket.
Stayin’ Safe and Knowin’ the Rules
Now, fishin’ ain’t all fun and games. You gotta be careful out there. Like I said, watch out for them snakes and the deep water. And you gotta know the rules. They close down fishin’ sometimes, like them razor clams down by the coast. They closed that down, said somethin’ ’bout the clams not bein’ safe to eat. So, you gotta pay attention to them announcements. The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, they put out the rules. You can find them reports online, or maybe at the bait shop. And if you see somethin’ fishy, like pollution or somethin’, you gotta report it. We gotta take care of our water, or there won’t be no fish left to catch.
Winter Time Fishin’
And if you’re thinkin’ about fishin’ in the winter, well, it gets cold up there in them mountains. I heard tell some of them lakes freeze over. Like that Wildhorse Reservoir, they say it’s startin’ to freeze up now, and they pulled the boat ramp out. So, you might have to go ice fishin’, if you’re brave enough. I ain’t never done no ice fishin’ myself. Seems mighty cold to me. But them folks up north, they seem to like it. They drill a hole in the ice and drop a line down. Crazy if you ask me, but to each their own. Just make sure the ice is thick enough, you don’t wanna fall in. That water’s cold enough to kill ya, even in the summer, let alone the winter.
So that’s about all I know about Wade Reservoir and fishin’ in Oregon. It ain’t much, but it’s the truth, as far as I know it. If you wanna know more, you gotta go see for yourself. Just be careful out there, and follow the rules. And maybe you’ll catch yourself a big ol’ fish.
