Well, let me tell ya ’bout these here fishin’ poles, the St. Croix Avid spinnin’ rods. Folks say they’re somethin’ special, so let’s see what the fuss is all about. I ain’t no fancy fisherman, mind you, just a plain ol’ person who likes to catch a fish or two.
St. Croix, what’s that? Sounds like some foreign place, but they say these poles are made right here in the USA, mostly up in some place called Park Falls, Wisconsin. Some are made down in Mexico too, Fres-nill-o, or somethin’ like that. Don’t matter much to me, long as they catch fish.
These fellas at St. Croix, they got their own ways of doin’ things. They mix up their own stuff, they call it “proprietary materials”, sounds fancy, huh? And they got these “exclusive technologies” too. One thing they talk about is this “Advanced Reinforcing Technology”. Don’t ask me what it is, but they say it makes the poles stronger. And that’s a good thing, ’cause I don’t want no pole breakin’ on me when I got a big ol’ fish on the line.
Now, they say these Avid rods are for the “most demanding anglers”. I guess that means folks who are serious ’bout fishin’. I ain’t that demanding, but I do like a good pole. They say this Avid series is one of St. Croix’s best, real popular and folks give ’em good ratings. They say they’re put together real good, “impeccable durability” they call it. That means they last a long time, I reckon.
- Handle’s nice and comfy: They got these cork handles, “select grade” they call ’em. Feels good in your hand, they say. And that’s important, ’cause you’re gonna be holdin’ that pole for a while, waitin’ for a bite.
- Good for different kinds of fishin’: These poles, they ain’t just for one thing. You can use ’em for “drop shottin’”, “shaky heads”, “ned rigs”, “wacky rigs”… All these fancy names, I tell ya. But what it means is you can catch different kinds of fish with ’em. And that’s a good thing, ’cause you never know what’s bitin’ on any given day.
- Balanced just right: They say these poles are balanced real good. That means they don’t feel too heavy on one end or the other. Makes it easier to cast and reel ’em in. I like that, ’cause my arms ain’t as strong as they used to be.
Some of these Avid rods, they come in three pieces, they call ’em “Trek” rods. I guess that’s good if you’re travelin’ around and need to pack your pole up small. But I mostly fish around here, so I don’t need nothin’ fancy like that.
They also got this “Freshwater Avid Rod Collection,” that’s what they call it. Just a bunch of rods they put together for folks who like fishin’ in freshwater and like these Avid poles. Sounds like a good place to start if you’re lookin’ to get one of these poles.
So, there you have it. That’s what I know about these St. Croix Avid spinnin’ rods. They sound like good poles, strong and well-made. Good enough for the “most demanding anglers” and good enough for me, I reckon. If you’re lookin’ for a new fishin’ pole, might be worth checkin’ these out. Just remember, it ain’t the pole that catches the fish, it’s the person holdin’ it. But a good pole sure does help!
