Alright, let’s talk about this here dice fishin’ bait, ya know? Them fancy folks call it somethin’ else, somethin’ Japanese-like, but I just call it dice bait ’cause that’s what it looks like. Little rubbery cubes, like them dice the young’uns play with, only softer.
Now, I ain’t no expert, but I’ve been fishin’ longer than most of you been breathin’. And I tell ya, this dice bait stuff, it works. Don’t ask me why, it just does. I reckon the fish think it’s somethin’ tasty, or maybe they just curious. Fish are dumb like that sometimes.
So, how do you use this here dice bait? Well, it ain’t rocket science, I’ll tell ya that much. You just string it on your hook, like you would a worm. Cast it out there, let it sink a bit. Then you just kinda… jiggle it around. Yup, jiggle it. Make it look like it’s alive, ya know? Like a little bug swimmin’ around.
- Cast it out.
- Let it sink.
- Jiggle it around.
Sometimes, I let it sit on the bottom. Them big ol’ bottom feeders, they like that. They come snoopin’ around, see that little dice sittin’ there, and BAM! They bite. Other times, I reel it in slow, real slow. Like it’s tryin’ to get away. That gets their attention too.
Now, about them colors. They got all sorts of colors, these dice baits. Red, green, black, even sparkly ones. I ain’t sure it matters all that much, to be honest. Fish ain’t got good eyesight, ya know? But I figure, if the water’s clear, maybe use a brighter color. If it’s murky, maybe use a darker one. That’s just common sense, ain’t it?
One thing I learned, though, is that you gotta match your hook to the bait. Don’t use no big ol’ hook with a little bitty dice bait. The fish’ll feel that hook and they won’t bite. Use a small hook, somethin’ sharp. And make sure it’s strong, too. You don’t want that hook breakin’ when you got a big one on the line.
And speakin’ of lines, don’t use no heavy line with this dice bait. It’s light bait, ya know? You need a light line so it can move around natural-like. If you use a heavy line, it’ll just sink to the bottom and sit there. The fish won’t see it, and you won’t catch nothin’.
I remember this one time, I was fishin’ down at the creek. Used this here dice bait, a red one. Cast it out near them lily pads, where the big bass like to hide. Let it sink, jiggled it a bit, and then WHAM! Felt like I hooked a log. But it wasn’t no log, it was a big ol’ bass, musta weighed five pounds. Fought like heck, it did. But I reeled it in, slow and steady. Got it right up to the bank. Biggest bass I ever caught with dice bait, that one.
So, there you have it. That’s all I know about fishin’ with dice bait. It ain’t complicated. Just cast it out, jiggle it around, and see what happens. You might be surprised. And don’t forget, the most important thing is to have patience. Fishin’ ain’t about catchin’ fish, it’s about sittin’ out there, enjoyin’ the peace and quiet. And if you happen to catch a fish or two, well, that’s just a bonus.
But remember what i said, the bait is just to get the hook in the fishes mouth. If the fish don’t like it, it don’t matter how fancy your rod and reel is, your bucket is gonna stay empty. And remember if the water is green use green bait, if it’s brown use brown bait. Just use your head, it ain’t rocket science, it’s fishin’.
Now go on out there and try it for yourself. And don’t go blabbing about this to everyone, or the fishin’ hole will get too crowded. This will be our little secret, you hear?
