Well, hey there, y’all! Let me tell ya ’bout fishin’ down in Loreto, Baja. It’s a real nice place, ya know, down by the sea and all.
Fishin’ Season – When to Catch the Big Ones
Now, if you wanna catch them big ol’ fish, you gotta go at the right time. Folks say June to September is the best. That’s when them dorado, marlin, sailfish, and tuna are bitin’ good. Them marlin and sailfish, they’re somethin’ else, with them long noses and stiff fins. Real pretty for pictures, they are. If you want a fish to brag about, them’s the ones to get.
Marlin and Sailfish – The Fancy Fish
They call this place the Sea of Cortez, and lemme tell ya, it’s full of fish. You got striped marlin, blue marlin…all sorts. Sailfish too, especially when it’s warm. Them fish, they’re on folks’ bucket lists, ya know, the fish they dream of catchin’ before they kick the bucket.
- Dorado: They’re shiny and golden, real pretty. And they taste good too!
- Marlin: Big and strong, they’ll give ya a fight. But man, are they somethin’ to see!
- Sailfish: They got that big ol’ fin on their back, looks like a sail. That’s how they got their name, I reckon.
- Tuna: Now, these are good eatin’ fish. Big and meaty, they’ll fill ya right up.
Other Critters in the Sea
But it ain’t just fish down there. You got all sorts of critters. Pretty little fish, big ol’ turtles, and them noisy sea lions. They’re fun to watch, them sea lions. Always barkin’ and playin’. And in the winter, them big whales come around. Humpbacks and grays, they say. I ain’t seen ’em myself, but folks say they’re somethin’ to see.
Loreto – A Nice Place by the Water
Loreto, it’s on the east side of Baja California Sur, down in Mexico. Pretty place, it is. The water’s blue, the sun’s shinin’, and the fish are bitin’. What more could ya want?
Before You Go Fishin’ – Check the Weather and Such
Now, before you go runnin’ off to fish, you gotta check the weather. Don’t wanna get caught in a storm, do ya? And see if the fish are bitin’. Some days they are, some days they ain’t. That’s just how it is. And look at some pictures, too. Gets ya in the mood for fishin’.
What Kinda Bait to Use?
Well, that depends on what you’re fishin’ for. For them marlin and sailfish, they like live bait, like little fish or squid. For dorado, you can use lures, shiny things that wiggle and catch their eye. And for tuna, well, they’ll eat just about anything, them greedy fellers.
Tips for Catchin’ Fish
Now, I ain’t no expert, but I know a thing or two about fishin’. First off, you gotta be patient. Fishin’ ain’t a race. You gotta wait for the fish to come to you. And you gotta be quiet. Don’t go stompin’ around and makin’ a bunch of noise. Scare the fish away, you will. And most important, you gotta have fun. If you ain’t havin’ fun, what’s the point?
Where to Fish in Loreto
There’s lots of good fishin’ spots around Loreto. You can fish from the shore, if you want. Or you can go out on a boat. That’s where the big fish are, out in the deep water. There’s plenty of folks in Loreto who’ll take ya fishin’, if you don’t have your own boat. Just ask around.
After Fishin’ – What to Do
So, you caught a bunch of fish, huh? Well, now it’s time to eat ’em! You can cook ’em up yourself, or you can take ’em to a restaurant and have them cook ’em for ya. Nothin’ better than fresh fish, lemme tell ya. And after you eat, you can relax on the beach, take a swim, or just sit and watch the sunset. It’s real pretty down there in Loreto.
So, there ya have it. A little bit about fishin’ in Loreto. It’s a good place to go, if you like to fish. And even if you don’t, it’s a nice place to visit. So go on down there and see for yourself. You won’t be disappointed.
