Well, howdy there, folks! Let’s talk about fishin’, Odell Lake fishin’ to be exact. I ain’t no fancy writer, but I know a thing or two about catchin’ fish, so listen up.
Odell Lake, a Place for Fishin’
Now, Odell Lake, that’s a real purdy place. Lots of water, trees all around, and the fish? Oh, honey, they got fish! I heard tell they got all kinds in there, like rainbow trout, that’s the colorful ones, ya know? And kokanee, them little fellers are fun to catch, like pullin’ up shiny silver dollars, but smaller, of course. And the big mackinaw trout? Them’s the whoppers! Them’s the ones you brag about to your neighbors.
How to Catch ‘Em
Okay, so you wanna catch some fish, huh? Well, first thing’s first, you gotta find ’em. Them mackinaws, they like it deep, real deep, like down in the cellar of the lake. Eighty to a hundred and twenty feet, they say. You gotta use somethin’ heavy to get down there, like a J-plug or somethin’ called a Maglip. Never seen one myself, but they say it works real good. And stick to the north side of the lake, that’s where the big ones hang out, I reckon.
- Rainbow Trout: These are kinda everywhere, swimmin’ around near the top, easy to catch, good eatin’.
- Kokanee: Them little silver fellas, they like to school up, so if you find one, you’ll find a bunch. Fun for the kids, easy to cook up.
- Mackinaw: Now these are the prize winners, the big daddies of the lake. You gotta work for ’em, but they’re worth it. Deep water, heavy lures, that’s the secret.
Fishin’ Guides and Such
Now, if you’re new to this fishin’ game, or just ain’t havin’ no luck, you can always hire yourself a guide. Them folks at the Odell Lake Lodge, they got guides who know every nook and cranny of that lake. They’ll take you out, show you the ropes, and help you catch some fish. I ain’t never hired one myself, I’m too stubborn for that, but I hear they’re pretty good.
Tips from an Old Timer
Alright, here’s some free advice from a gal who’s spent more time on the water than a duck. First, be patient. Fishin’ ain’t a race, it’s a waitin’ game. Second, use the right bait. Different fish like different things, so do your homework. Third, don’t be afraid to ask for help. There’s always someone around who knows more than you do. And fourth, have fun! That’s what it’s all about, ain’t it?
The Miracle Mile?
Now, I heard tell of a place called the Miracle Mile, not at Odell Lake, mind you, but somewhere else in Oregon. It’s a river, they say, and the fishin’ is somethin’ else. Fly fishin’, that’s what they do there. Never tried it myself, looks too fancy for me. But folks say it’s the best darn fishin’ around. Maybe someday I’ll give it a whirl, but for now, I’m stickin’ to Odell Lake. It’s good enough for me.
So, there you have it. A little somethin’ about fishin’ at Odell Lake. It ain’t rocket science, just plain old common sense and a whole lotta patience. Now get out there and catch yourself some fish! And don’t forget to bring a cooler, you’ll need it.
Remember what I told ya, fish deep for mackinaw, look around for rainbow trout, and keep an eye out for those kokanee schools. And don’t be afraid to get a little help from those guides if you need it. Happy fishin’!
