Alright, listen up, y’all! Let’s talk ’bout them fishin’ baits, the ones you need for catchin’ fish when the leaves start fallin’ and it gets chilly. We ain’t messin’ around with fancy words or complicated stuff. Just good ol’ fashioned know-how, like my grandma used to say, “Keep it simple, stupid!”
So, you wanna catch some fish in the fall, huh? Well, first off, you gotta know what kind of fish you’re after. Bass? Pike? Them walleye things? Or maybe some of them perch you fry up real nice? Down by the sea, you got your trout and redfish, all that good stuff.
- For bass, them crankbaits, the ones that dive down deep, them’s the ticket. I’m talkin’ ’bout the ones that go down 12 to 15 feet. You need a good sturdy rod, too. A medium one, somethin’ like seven foot four inches long, that’ll do ya just fine.
- Now, if you’re up north where it gets real cold, you wanna use them topwater baits. Them fish like to come up and smack them things on top of the water. And them lipless baits, the ones that wiggle and wobble, them’s good too. Makes a ruckus in the water, gets the fishes’ attention.
But if you’re down south where it’s a bit warmer, them crankbaits, like I said, them’s your best friend. You can throw ’em around the weeds and the grass. Sometimes them bass hide in there, waitin’ to ambush somethin’. And don’t forget ’bout them jigs, the ones you punch through the thick stuff. Them fish can’t resist ’em.
Now, if you ain’t got none of them fancy lures, don’t you fret. You can still catch fish with the basics. Pellets, them little round things, they work good. And maggots, yeah, I know it sounds gross, but fish love ’em. Sweetcorn, too, the stuff you eat right off the cob. And meat, little chunks of it, that’ll get their attention for sure. These are the things that’ll catch just about anythin’ that swims.
October, now that’s a good month for fishin’. The weather’s nice, not too hot, not too cold. The fish are bitin’ ’cause they’re tryin’ to fatten up for the winter. You gotta get out there and take advantage of it. Go early in the mornin’ or late in the evenin’, that’s when they’re most active. And don’t be afraid to try different things. If one bait ain’t workin’, switch it up. Try somethin’ else. That’s the key to catchin’ fish, persistence and a little bit of luck.
So there you have it, folks. No need to overthink it. Just get yourself some good baits, find a good spot, and get to fishin’. And remember what my grandpa always said, “The worst day of fishin’ is still better than the best day of workin’!” He wasn’t always the sharpest tool in the shed, but he knew a thing or two about fishin’, that’s for sure.
And one more thing. Don’t go blabbin’ about your secret fishin’ spots. Some things are best kept to yourself. You know how it is, everybody wants to catch the big ones, but ain’t nobody wants to do the work to find ’em. So keep your mouth shut and your line wet, and you’ll be bringin’ home a mess of fish in no time.
Now get out there and fish!
