Alright, let’s talk about this fishin’ stuff, you know, down there in Tillamook Bay. I ain’t no fancy fisherman, but I know a thing or two ’bout catchin’ fish, been doin’ it my whole life.
Them Big Fall Salmon
Now, they tell me these big king salmon, or fall Chinook, they start showin’ up ’round the middle of September. That’s when the weather starts gettin’ a bit nippy, but the fish, they like it. They say it lasts till ’bout middle of November, maybe even longer if the weather holds up. Folks from up Astoria way, they come down here when the fishin’ there slows down. Heard them big fish are bitin’ good and there’s a whole mess of ’em.
Used to be, you could just throw a line in and get somethin’, but now, you gotta know where to go, what to use. Them fish ain’t stupid, ya know.
- September time: Big fish start coming, gotta be ready.
- October time: Fishin’ is good, real good.
- November time: Still fish around, but gotta work harder for ’em.
Spring Fishin’ Too
Then there’s the spring salmon. They say they start comin’ in April. That’s when things start warmin’ up a bit, you know, after that long, cold winter. Fish start runnin’ in the rivers, all along the coast. I hear folks are fishin’ ’em till they start swimmin’ up the river, maybe early May or so. Never fished much in the spring myself, always busy with the garden and such. But I hear it’s good fishin’ too. Not as big as them fall fish, but tasty just the same.
Fishin’ Near Lincoln City
Now, I ain’t been over to Lincoln City way much, but I hear there’s good fishin’ in Tillamook Bay near there too. Fish are fish, I reckon, they swim all over. Guess you gotta find the right spot, use the right bait. That’s the hard part, ain’t it?
Reports and Such
Heard tell there’s these fishin’ reports, tellin’ ya what’s bitin’ and where. Folks are writin’ ’em down, puttin’ ’em on the internet or somethin’. I ain’t got no use for that fancy stuff, but some folks like to know what’s goin’ on. Heard they had some good catches last November, that was 2024. And there’s reports for September too. Guess you gotta keep your ear to the ground if you wanna catch fish these days.
Coho Salmon in June
Oh, and somebody was talkin’ ’bout them Coho salmon, caught ’em in June. June the 16th, they said, 2024. I always thought them Coho came later, but what do I know? Fish do what they wanna do, I reckon. They’re smaller than the kings, but they put up a good fight.
My Two Cents
So, there you have it. That’s what I know ‘bout fishin’ in Tillamook Bay. Ain’t much, but it’s honest. You gotta be patient, you gotta be persistent, and you gotta have a little bit of luck. And don’t forget to bring a good knife and a strong line. And maybe a warm jacket, it can get cold out there on the water, especially in the fall. And don’t go tellin’ everyone my secrets now, ya hear? I don’t want everyone fishin’ in my spots! Fishin’ is supposed to be quiet and peaceful, not like them city folks with all their noise and fancy gadgets.
Best Time to Go
If you ask me, the best time to go is in the fall, for them big king salmon. That’s when the fishin’ is really somethin’ special. But any time you can get out on the water is a good time, I reckon. Just being out there, with the sun on your face and the wind in your hair, that’s enough for me. Catchin’ a fish is just a bonus.
Remember to check your gear, make sure your hooks are sharp and you got plenty of bait. And most important, have fun. That’s what it’s all about ain’t it?
