Well now, if you’re thinkin’ about fishin’ down at Myrtle Beach, I can tell ya, it’s a right good spot to catch all sorts of fish, all year ’round. Don’t matter if you’re just a regular old fisherman or one of them fancy folks with all the gadgets, the fishin’ there’s somethin’ else. I’ll give ya a little rundown on what to expect, and where ya might wanna throw in a line.
First off, ya got the Spanish Mackerel and King Mackerel—they’re swimmin’ around most of the year, so if you’re lookin’ to reel in somethin’ good, these fish ain’t too hard to find. They’re fast and they’ll put up a bit of a fight, so hold on tight! But don’t be too hasty, they like the warmer months, so you might have better luck in the summer.
Now, if you like fishin’ near the shore, Myrtle Beach’s inshore fishin’ is famous. There’s plenty of Flounder, Red Drum, and Speckled Trout—and the good news is, these critters can be caught pretty much all year long. You don’t even have to go far from the beach to get yourself a good catch. Just find a spot, throw in your line, and wait for the bite. Early mornin’ or just before sunset is when it’s the best, ’cause them fish like to come out when it’s cooler. I ain’t sure why, but that’s when they bite most.
Now, if ya wander a bit further, you can also try your luck with the Crappie, Smallmouth Bass, and Largemouth Bass. These fishes can be found in some of the lakes and rivers nearby. And don’t forget about the Catfish—I tell ya, if you want somethin’ that’s gonna give ya a bit of a tug, that’s the one. The Trout and them Stripers can also be caught in these waters, and there’s plenty of Hybrids swimming about too, so it’s not hard to find a fish that’ll bite.
If you’re lookin’ for a peaceful spot to cast your line, the Apache Pier near North Myrtle Beach is a good place. I’ve heard tell that folks have caught some mighty fine fish off that pier. Whether you’re sittin’ there for hours or just a quick stop, it’s a good spot to enjoy the day while waitin’ for a fish to bite.
All in all, Myrtle Beach is a great place to go fishin’, no matter what time of year it is. From the inshore waters to the piers, there’s always somethin’ to catch. Just remember, the early bird gets the worm—or in this case, the fish! So, grab your pole, pack a lunch, and get out there. Whether you’re a seasoned fisherman or just lookin’ for a little fun, Myrtle Beach’s waters got plenty to offer!
