Well, howdy folks! Let me tell ya ’bout fishin’ in that Rodman place. Heard some folks callin’ it Rodman Reservoir, sounds fancy, but to me it’s just a big ol’ pond where ya can catch some fish, if ya lucky.
Now, I ain’t no fancy fisherman with all them highfalutin’ gadgets. I just use a good ol’ pole and some worms, or maybe some crickets if I can catch ’em. And let me tell ya, that Rodman place, it’s got some fish! Big ones too!
I went there last week, sun was shinin’ bright, just a bit chilly though. Water felt kinda cold too, made my toes curl up when I dipped ’em in. But the fish, they didn’t seem to mind none. I caught me a few bass, not the little fellers, but some real lunkers! Big ol’ mouths on ’em, could swallow yer hand if ya let ’em.
- Spring and fall, that’s when them rainbow fish like to bite. Pretty little things, but they fight hard!
- And sometimes, if you’re real lucky, you might just catch yourself a big brown trout. Them are some tasty fish, let me tell ya.
Folks say this here Rodman place is up near Ocala. Never been to Ocala myself, but I reckon it ain’t too far. Anyways, this here pond, it’s got a reputation for big bass. And let me tell ya, that reputation ain’t no lie. I seen some fellers pullin’ out bass bigger than my cat! And my cat’s a big one, let me tell ya.
Now, I heard some folks talkin’ ’bout water temperatures and air temperatures and all that scientific stuff. Me? I just stick my hand in the water. If it feels cold, I put on a sweater. If it feels warm, I take it off. Simple as that. And as for the fish, well, they bite when they wanna bite. Ain’t no science to it, just luck and patience.
This Captain Ken fella, he seems to know a thing or two about fishin’ in Rodman. Heard he runs some kinda charter business, takin’ folks out on the water. Southern Fried Charters, I think he calls it. Sounds tasty, but I reckon he’s talkin’ ’bout fishin’, not fryin’ chicken. Anyways, he says the fishin’ is great down there in Interlachen, Florida. And I ain’t gonna argue with him. The fishin’ is good, real good.
Some folks say the fish bite better when a cold front comes through. I don’t know ’bout that. Seems to me they bite whenever they’re hungry. But I did notice it was a bit chilly that day I caught them big bass. Maybe there’s somethin’ to it. Who knows? Fish are funny creatures.
But one thing’s for sure, that Rodman Reservoir, it’s a good place to go fishin’. Big bass, pretty rainbow fish, and maybe even a brown trout if yer lucky. Just bring yer pole, some bait, and a whole lotta patience. And don’t forget yer sweater, cause it can get chilly out there on the water. And if ya see Captain Ken, tell him I said howdy! He’s a good fella, even if he does talk all fancy ’bout fishin’.
So, if you’re lookin’ for a place to catch some fish, head on down to Rodman. You might just catch the biggest fish of yer life! And if ya don’t, well, at least you’ll have a good time tryin’. That’s what fishin’s all about, ain’t it? Just sittin’ there, waitin’ for a bite, and enjoyin’ the peace and quiet. ‘Cept for when them fish start jumpin’, then it ain’t so quiet no more!
But that’s a good kinda noise, the sound of a fish splashin’ in the water. Means there’s somethin’ bitin’! And that’s what we’re all lookin’ for, ain’t it? A good bite, and a good fish to bring home for supper. So go on, get yerself down to Rodman and wet a line. You won’t regret it!
And remember, don’t go tellin’ everyone ’bout my secret fishin’ spot! It’s gettin’ crowded enough as it is! Just kiddin’ folks, there’s plenty of fish for everyone. Just be respectful of the water, and the fish, and each other. And maybe, just maybe, you’ll catch yourself a whopper!
