Alright, let’s talk about this fishin’ stuff around Belmar. You know, Belmar, that place down by the water where all them boats go. Yeah, that’s the one.
So, I hear tell there’s been some fishin’ goin’ on. Folks catchin’ fish, that’s what they do. Big ones, small ones, all kinds I reckon. They call it a “fishing report” – sounds fancy, huh? But it just means tellin’ ya what kinda fish they catchin’ and where.
The Golden Eagle, that’s one of them boats, they took a picture of some fella with a striper. A striper, that’s a fish, a long, silvery one. Looked like a happy fella, holdin’ that fish. Musta been a good day for him. Captain Steve, from the Skylarker boat, he said… well, he said somethin’ about the fish bitin’. That’s good, means they hungry and you can catch ’em.
They got these reports, see? Like in September, they tell ya what fish were bitin’ then. Helps ya know what to look for, I guess. Where to catch ‘em too. That’s important, ain’t no use fishin’ where there ain’t no fish.
- September – They was catchin’ somethin’ then.
- November – More fishin’, winds were blowin’ from the west, they say the fish were “chewin’”. That just means they bitin’ a lot.
Then there’s the Ocean Explorer. They write down what happens every day, all the fishin’ stuff. They put up pictures too, of folks with their fish. Proud as peacocks, they are. And they should be! Catchin’ a fish, that’s hard work sometimes. You gotta be patient, you gotta be lucky.
And them boats, the Miss Belmar and the Miss Belmar Princess, they sayin’ folks catchin’ their limit of stripers. “Limit” means you can’t catch no more, gotta leave some for the other fellas. And they sayin’ the striper fishin’ is “hot”. That means it’s good, real good. Lots of fish to be caught.
So, if you wanna go fishin’, Belmar seems like a good place to go. Lots of boats, lots of fish. Just gotta find the right spot, use the right bait, and hope them fish are hungry. That’s all there is to it. It ain’t rocket science, you know.
Now, I ain’t no expert, but I know a thing or two about fishin’. It’s about gettin’ out there, enjoyin’ the fresh air, and maybe catchin’ somethin’ to eat. And if you catch a big one, well, that’s just somethin’ to brag about. That’s the fun part of fishing. Tellin’ the story later on is just as important as catching the fish.
