Well, let me tell ya ’bout this Buell Park place, down in Sheridan, Oregon. It’s a real nice spot, ya know? Folks ’round here, they go there for all sorts of things.
First off, it’s got this here park, Buell County Park they call it. Easy to find, they say. Just head down Mill Creek way, zip code 97378. Can’t miss it. Got a playground and all, for the little ‘uns to run around and get their energy out. Lord knows them kids got too much energy these days.
And the restrooms, they ain’t those nasty porta-potties neither. They got real, full-service ones. Clean and everything. That’s important, ya know? Nobody wants to use a dirty ol’ outhouse.
Then there’s the picnic tables. Plenty of ’em, scattered all about. You can bring your own grub, fried chicken, maybe some potato salad, and just sit and enjoy the day. They even got these fire pits, so you can roast some marshmallows if you’re feelin’ fancy. Or hot dogs. Everybody loves a good hot dog, ain’t that right?
Heard tell they got horseshoe pits too. Never played horseshoes myself, but looks like fun. Tossin’ them metal things, tryin’ to get ’em ’round that pole. Sounds like a good way to pass the time.
Now, if you like walkin’, they got trails. Scenic trails, they call ’em. Means they’re pretty, I guess. You can wander around, look at the trees and the birds and whatnot. Good for the soul, they say. Gets you out in the fresh air, away from all the hustle and bustle.
And fishin’! Don’t forget the fishin’. They got spots for that too, down by the creek I reckon. Now, I ain’t much of a fisherwoman myself, but I know folks who love it. Nothin’ like catchin’ your own dinner, they say. ‘Course, you gotta have the patience for it. And the right bait.
- Playground for the kids
- Clean, full-service restrooms
- Picnic tables and fire pits
- Horseshoe pits for some fun
- Scenic trails for walkin’
- Fishin’ spots by the creek
This here Buell Park, it ain’t just for summer neither. Sure, them summer days, swimmin’ and all, they’re nice, but this place is good any time of year. You can go for a walk in the fall, see the leaves change color. Or bundle up and go for a stroll in the winter, if you’re brave enough. Springtime, well, that’s when everything comes back to life. Flowers bloomin’, birds singin’. It’s a sight to see, let me tell ya.
Now, I heard some folks talkin’ ’bout tickets and parkin’ and all that. But as far as I know, it’s free to get in. Just drive on down and enjoy yourself. Parkin’ might be a bit tricky on a busy day, but you’ll find a spot eventually. Don’t you worry ’bout that.
And if you’re one of them fancy folks with your “social pages” and your “Googles” and your “Facebooks,” you can find more info there, I guess. Hours and directions and all that stuff. Me, I just hop in my ol’ pickup and head on down. No need for all that fancy technology.
They even got maps, if you’re the type who likes to plan things out. Topographic maps, they call ’em. Shows you all the hills and valleys and whatnot. Me, I just follow the signs, or ask somebody if I get lost. Folks ’round here are friendly enough.
So, if you’re ever in Sheridan, Oregon, and you’re lookin’ for a nice place to spend the day, head on down to Buell Park. It’s got somethin’ for everyone. Kids, adults, old folks like me. You won’t be disappointed, I reckon.
Just remember to bring your own grub, maybe a blanket to sit on, and a good attitude. And don’t forget to clean up after yourself. Nobody likes a litterbug. That’s just common sense, ain’t it?
Alright, that’s all I got to say ’bout Buell Park. Hope you enjoyed my little ol’ story. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go make myself a cup of tea. My throat’s gettin’ a little dry from all this talkin’. You have a good day now, ya hear?
