Alright, so you wanna know about fishin’ down in Los Cabos, huh? Well, let me tell ya, it’s been real somethin’ lately. Folks been catchin’ all sorts of fish, big and small, makes your head spin just thinkin’ about it.
The Marlin Scene is Hot! Yep, them marlin are bitin’ like crazy. I heard tell of some fellas pullin’ in striped marlin, and even some of them big blue ones too. Them fish put up a heck of a fight, I tell ya, but that’s half the fun of it, ain’t it? Los Cabos, they call it the “Marlin Capital of the World,” and I reckon they ain’t lyin’. If you’re lookin’ to tangle with a marlin, this is the place to be.
- Striped Marlin: Plenty of these fellas around. They ain’t as big as the blues, but they sure are scrappy.
- Blue Marlin: These are the real monsters. If you hook into one of these, you better hold on tight!
But it ain’t just marlin, no sirree. Them dorado, or mahi-mahi as some folks call ’em, they’re jumpin’ in the boats too. Pretty lookin’ fish, all green and yellow and blue. And tasty too, I hear. Good eatin’, that’s what I say.
And then there’s the tuna. Yellowfin tuna, to be exact. Big ol’ footballs of fish, swimmin’ around out there. Heard tell of some real lunkers bein’ caught, the kind that’ll give you a sore back just tryin’ to reel ’em in. Them tuna, they fight hard, but boy oh boy, they’re worth it. Nothin’ like a big ol’ tuna steak on the grill.
Now, where are they catchin’ all these fish? Well, some folks are goin’ out deep, way offshore. That’s where you find the big marlin and tuna. But you can catch fish closer to shore too. Them dorado, they like to hang around the kelp paddies and such. So, whether you wanna go way out or stay close in, there’s fish to be caught.
The fishin’ charters down there, they’re doin’ real good. They got boats of all sizes, from little skiffs to big fancy yachts. And the captains, they know what they’re doin’. They’ve been fishin’ these waters their whole lives, and they know where the fish are bitin’. So, if you ain’t got your own boat, don’t you worry, just hop on a charter and let them take care of you.
I’ve been hearin’ reports from all over Los Cabos, from Cabo San Lucas to all them other spots around there. And the word is, the fishin’ is good, real good. Been hearin’ this since way back in 1999, and it just keeps gettin’ better, seems like.
What Kinds of Fish are Bitin’? Well, like I said, the marlin are hot, and so are the dorado and tuna. But there’s other fish too. Things like wahoo, and roosterfish, and even some snapper and grouper if you’re lucky. So, no matter what kind of fish you’re after, there’s a good chance you’ll find it down in Los Cabos.
They update them fishin’ reports pretty regular, so you always know what’s goin’ on. Some places do it every day, some do it once a week. But either way, you can get a pretty good idea of what’s bitin’ and where to go. They tell ya what the crowds are like too, so you can avoid the busy days if you want.
So, if you’re thinkin’ about goin’ fishin’, I’d say Los Cabos is a darn good place to go. The fish are bitin’, the weather’s nice, and the folks are friendly. What more could you ask for? Just make sure you bring your sunscreen and a hat, ’cause that sun down there can be mighty strong. And don’t forget your fishin’ pole!
Inshore or Offshore? That’s the question. Inshore, you’ll find dorado and maybe some smaller fish. Offshore, that’s where the big boys are – marlin, tuna, and the like. It all depends on what you’re lookin’ for and how much fight you want in your fish. But heck, even a small fish can put up a good battle sometimes.
So there you have it. That’s the lowdown on the fishin’ in Los Cabos. It’s good, real good. Go on down there and see for yourself. You won’t be disappointed.
