Now, fall’s comin’, and let me tell ya, that’s the best time to catch bass! You see, them bass are real hungry this time of year, gettin’ ready for winter, so they’ll be takin’ anything they can get. I’ve been fishin’ all my life, and I tell ya, there’s a few lures that just work wonders when the leaves start fallin’. I ain’t no expert, but these lures have always done me good when I’m out there by the water.
1. Topwater Lures
Now, topwater lures, they’re somethin’ else, especially in the early fall. When the bass is hangin’ near the surface, you throw one of these bad boys, and they just can’t resist. You gotta work that lure just right, let it splash and wiggle like a little fish out there. Bass, they can’t help themselves. Early morning or just before dusk is the best time, trust me on that.
2. Crankbaits
If you ain’t usin’ crankbaits, then you’re missin’ out! They’re great for when the bass are down deeper, tryin’ to avoid the cold on the surface. You let that crankbait go down and it moves just like a fish swimmin’. Bass love them, especially when the water’s still warm. Just make sure you choose the right color for the water you’re fishin’ in, they like bright ones when the sun’s out, and darker ones when it’s cloudy or murky.
3. Spinnerbaits
Spinnerbaits are another favorite of mine. They’ve got them shiny blades that spin and catch the light, makin’ them look just like a little shad or something swimmin’ around. Bass can’t resist that flash in the water. The best part? You can use them in almost any kind of water, whether it’s clear or murky, and they still do the trick. Don’t forget, they’re also great for areas with lots of weeds or structure. Them blades just cut right through it.
4. Swimbaits
Swimbaits, oh, they work like a charm in fall. These things look like real fish, they swim so smooth and lifelike. The bass, they get all excited when they see one. You throw it out there, reel it in nice and slow, and them bass will think it’s dinner. Sometimes, when the fish are bein’ real picky, that swimbait can be the thing that gets ’em to bite. Plus, they’re good for fishin’ in deep waters too, ‘cause they can go down pretty far.
5. Jigs
Last but not least, jigs. Now, jigs ain’t the flashiest lure out there, but they sure are one of the most reliable. You drop ‘em down into the thick stuff, like under docks or around fallen trees, and them bass will find ’em. Sometimes, you gotta use a little soft bait on the jig to make it more appealing, but either way, bass love ’em. They’re just so good for trickin’ them into thinkin’ they found somethin’ tasty in the bottom of the lake.
Now, ya gotta know the water you’re fishin’ in, ‘cause that’ll help ya pick the right lure. Early fall, the bass will be workin’ to bulk up for winter, so they’ll be hangin’ close to the surface early in the morning or late in the evening, but as it gets colder, they’ll move deeper. You gotta keep up with where they’re at if you wanna catch ’em!
