Well, let me tell ya ’bout this Galesville Campground in Oregon, ya know, the one near Azalea. It’s out there by that Galesville Reservoir. Folks say it’s a good place for fishin’. I ain’t much of a fisher myself, but I hear tell them fish be bitin’ out there.
Galesville Reservoir, that’s the place to be! They got cabins there, if you don’t like sleepin’ on the ground like some kinda animal. And if you got one of them fancy RVs, well, they got spots for them too. Full hook-ups, they call ’em. Means you can plug in all your stuff, I reckon. Electricity and water and all that. Not like the old days, I tell ya.
- Cabins for rent, right on the lake. Fancy folks like them.
- Spaces for them big RVs with all the fixin’s.
- Spots for tents, if you’re tough like me.
Now, to get there, you gotta go east off that I-5, Exit 88, they say. About eight miles, or so. Not too far, but far enough to feel like you’re out in the country, ya know? Away from all the hustle and bustle. It’s peaceful out there, ‘cept for the kids screamin’ and the dogs barkin’, but that’s just part of it, I guess.
They got a bunch of campsites. Some with them hook-ups, some without. Some you can drive right up to, some you gotta walk a little bit. Twenty full hook-up spots, they say. And eleven without. And three cabins you can rent. Plus, a spot for big groups, if you got a whole passel of folks with ya. Enough room for everyone, I reckon.
The campground overlooks the reservoir, which is mighty purdy. Six hundred forty acres of water, they say. Big enough to get lost on, if you ain’t careful. Good for boatin’, too, if you got one of them fancy boats. Me, I just like to sit by the shore and watch the water. It’s kinda calmin’, ya know?
Fishin’ and Boatin’, that’s what they do out there. I heard tell they got showers and restrooms too, so you don’t have to stink like a fish after a long day. That’s a good thing, I reckon. Nobody wants to smell like a fish, ‘cept maybe the fish themselves.
And if you wanna stay a while, you can. But not too long. They got rules, ya know. Somethin’ ’bout fourteen nights in a seventeen-night period. Don’t ask me why. Them rules always confuse me. But I guess they don’t want ya livin’ there, ya know? It’s a campground, not a homestead.
Now, if you need to call ’em, they got a number. (541) 837-3302. I ain’t never called ’em myself, but that’s what the internet says. You can look it up, if you don’t believe me. They got all sorts of information on that there internet thingamajig. Too much information, if you ask me.
Chief Miwaleta Campground, that’s what some folks call it. It’s on Galesville Reservoir, like I said. A beautiful park, they say. And I reckon it is. I seen some pictures, and it looks mighty nice. Green trees and blue water and all that. Makes you wanna just sit back and relax.
So, if you’re lookin’ for a place to camp, this Galesville Campground might just be the ticket. It ain’t fancy, but it’s good enough for folks like me. And I reckon it’s good enough for you too. Just bring your fishin’ pole and your tent, and you’ll be all set. And don’t forget the bug spray, ’cause them mosquitoes can be fierce out there.
And one more thing, if you get lost, don’t come cryin’ to me. I ain’t got no fancy GPS to guide ya. Just follow the signs, like folks did in the old days. And if you can’t find your way, well, maybe you just weren’t meant to go campin’ in the first place.
