Well, let me tell ya ’bout fishin’ at that there East Riverfront Park, y’know, the one with them fishin’ ponds. I ain’t no fancy writer or nothin’, so I’m just gonna tell it like it is, the way I see it.
First off, findin’ the place ain’t too hard, even for an old gal like me. Just foller the signs, or ask someone. Folks are mostly friendly ’round there, ‘cept for maybe some of them city slickers. They got their noses up in the air, like they smell somethin’ bad.
Now, ’bout the fishin’. Them ponds, they ain’t the biggest you ever seen, but they got fish, that’s for sure. I caught me a few good-sized ones, and I ain’t even that good at fishin’. My hands ain’t as nimble as they used to be, you see. I heard some folks say they catch all sorts of fish there, but mostly I see them panfish, you know, the ones you can fry up real nice.
One thing I like ’bout them ponds is the view. You can see them mountains in the distance, real pretty like, specially when the sun’s goin’ down. It’s peaceful there too, most of the time. You can just sit there, watch your bobber, and forget about all your troubles. It’s a good place to get away from the noise and the fuss of the city. I heard somebody call it an “escape”, which I guess makes sense if you live in that there New York City. Always too busy for my liking, them city folk.
- They got benches too, if you get tired of standin’.
- And them park folks keep it pretty clean, which is nice. Nobody wants to fish in a mess, right?
- I seen some families there too, kids fishin’ with their daddies. It’s nice to see, kids gettin’ outdoors instead of starin’ at them screens all day.
Now, I ain’t gonna lie to ya, sometimes it gets crowded. Specially on weekends, when everybody and their brother decides to go fishin’. But even then, it ain’t too bad. There’s enough room for everyone, mostly. You just gotta find yourself a good spot and settle in.
And ’bout them fish, they ain’t always jumpin’ on your hook, y’know. Some days are better than others. That’s just fishin’, though. You can’t expect to catch a fish every time you throw your line in the water. But even if you don’t catch nothin’, it’s still a nice way to spend an afternoon. Just sittin’ there in the quiet is good for the soul, I say.
I heard some folks talkin’ ’bout usin’ them fancy fish finders and whatnot. I ain’t got no use for them things. I just use a good ol’ hook and worm, and that seems to work just fine. Maybe I’m old-fashioned, but that’s just how I do things.
If you’re lookin’ for a place to fish, and you don’t want to drive too far, I’d say give them East Riverfront Park fishin’ ponds a try. It ain’t nothin’ fancy, but it’s a good place to relax and maybe catch a few fish. Just remember to bring your own bait, and maybe a chair if you don’t like standin’. And don’t forget your hat, ’cause that sun can be strong, specially in the summer.
And one more thing, don’t be leavin’ your trash behind. Nobody likes a litterbug. Pack it in, pack it out, that’s what I always say. We gotta keep these places clean for everyone to enjoy.
So, there ya have it. That’s my take on fishin’ at them East Riverfront Park fishin’ ponds. It ain’t the most excitin’ place in the world, but it’s good enough for me. It’s a nice place to just get away from it all. It’s quiet, it’s pretty and it’s got fish, what more could you want? And that view of them mountains is somethin’ else, let me tell ya.
I hope this helps ya out. If you got any other questions, just ask. I ain’t got all the answers, but I’ll tell ya what I know.
Now go on and get fishin’!
