Well, I’ll tell ya, fishing for bass after it rains, that’s somethin’ folks always talk about. Some say it’s good, some say it ain’t. But from what I’ve seen, and I’ve seen a whole lot in my years, them bass, they do bite after a rain, but ya gotta know how to go about it.
See, them bass, they’re kinda like us old folks. They feel the weather, ya know? When the pressure drops, like when a storm’s comin’, they get all sluggish. They hunker down and wait it out. But once that rain comes and goes, and things settle down, they get active. They gotta eat, same as us after a long day.
What kinda baits to use, you ask? Well, I ain’t one for fancy stuff. Them spinnerbaits, the ones with the big shiny blades, they work real good. Throw ’em out there and reel ’em in, make some noise. Bass, they hear that and they come runnin’, thinkin’ it’s a tasty snack.
Then there’s them crankbaits and swimbaits. Them young fellers, they like to use all sorts of colors and shapes. Me? I stick to what works. Something that looks like a little fish, that’s what I use. Don’t need nothin’ fancy, just somethin’ that looks like food.
- Topwater baits can be good too, especially if it’s a bit cloudy after the rain. Bass, they like to look up for a meal sometimes.
- And don’t forget about worms and jigs. Them always work, rain or shine. Just gotta find the right spot, where them bass are hangin’ out.
Now, after the rain, the water can get all stirred up. It might be muddy, or it might be clear, dependin’ on how hard it rained. If it’s muddy, them bass, they might have a harder time seein’. So ya gotta use somethin’ that makes noise or vibrates, somethin’ they can feel. If it’s clear, well, then ya can use pretty much anythin’.
And another thing, the water level might be higher after a rain. That means them bass might be in different spots than they were before. Ya gotta look around, try different spots, until ya find ’em. Don’t just stick to the same old places, ’cause them bass, they move around.
Pay attention to the water temperature too. Rain can cool the water down, especially if it’s a hard rain. Bass, they like a certain temperature range. If it gets too cold, they might get sluggish again. So ya gotta adjust yer tactics, maybe fish a little slower, or use a smaller bait.
And don’t forget about safety. After a rain, the ground can be slippery, the banks can be muddy. Ya gotta be careful where ya step. And if there’s lightnin’, well, ya best stay home. Fishin’ ain’t worth gettin’ struck by lightnin’.
So, to sum it up, bass do bite after it rains, but ya gotta be smart about it. Ya gotta pay attention to the water conditions, the weather, and what them bass are doin’. Use the right baits, fish the right spots, and most importantly, be patient. Fishin’ ain’t always easy, but it’s always worth it.
One more thing, it ain’t just about catchin’ fish. It’s about bein’ out there, enjoyin’ nature. The smell of the air after a rain, the sound of the water, it’s all part of it. So even if ya don’t catch a single bass, it’s still a good day. That’s what I always say.
So, go out there, give it a try, and see for yourself. But remember, be safe, be patient, and have fun. That’s what fishin’s all about, ain’t it?
After all, as any good fisherman knows, patience and observation are key to a successful fishing trip.
