Well, let me tell ya somethin’ about fishin’ for them bass with them rubber worms. Them things, they work like a charm, I tell ya! I ain’t no fancy fisherman, but I know what catches fish, and them rubber worms, they sure do the trick. You go to any fishin’ store, and you’ll see walls full of ’em. Why? Cause they catch bass, that’s why!
Now, I ain’t gonna get all technical on ya with all them fancy names, but there’s all sorts of worms. Some are long and skinny, some are fat and short. Some folks call ’em “Senko baits” or “stickworms” or somethin’, but to me, they’re just rubber worms. You can get ’em in all sorts of colors too. If the water’s clear, I like to use the light-colored ones, like blue or green or somethin’ that looks kinda see-through. If it’s murky, then I go for the dark ones, black or purple, you know. It ain’t rocket science.
- Don’t need to spend a whole lot of money, just get the ones that work, you can browse them in some places and find good deals.
- Figurin’ out which worm to use ain’t so hard.
- Some folks say this worm is the best for this rig and that worm is the best for that rig, but I just use what works.
Now, how you put ’em on the hook, that’s what they call “riggin’,” I think. There’s different ways to do it. You can put a weight on the line and fish it along the bottom, that’s what some folks call a “Texas rig”. Or you can just hook the worm right through the middle, that’s called a “wacky rig”, I heard. The wacky rig, that’s when the worm is all wiggly and whatnot, you can’t really tell the head from the tail.
Fishin’ it ain’t too hard neither. You just throw it out there and reel it in slow, kinda jiggin’ it a little, you know, bouncin’ it up and down. Sometimes you gotta let it sit still for a bit, let them bass come and get it. If you fishin’ in clear water, that wacky worm, that works pretty good. Just cast it out and let it sink, then give it a little twitch now and then. Them bass, they can’t resist it.
But listen here, this is important. Sometimes them bass, they swallow them worms whole. And that ain’t good, see, cause that rubber can get stuck in their bellies and they can’t eat nothin’ and they starve. So, if you catch a little fella, try to get that hook out gentle-like and let him go. We gotta take care of them fish, ya know.
I remember this one time, I was fishin’ down at the creek, and I didn’t have nothin’ fancy, just a plain old black rubber worm. And wouldn’t you know it, I caught the biggest bass I ever did see. It was a real fighter, that one. Took me a good ten minutes to reel him in. But I got him, and he was a beauty. Took a picture and then let him go, of course. That’s the way to do it.
There are so many kinds of worms you could use. I don’t know which is best but most people talk about the Yamamoto Senko, they say it is the best for wacky rig, then there’s the Strike King Super Finesse, they say it is the best for Texas rig, and don’t forget the Culprit Original worm, some people swear by them. But really, any worm will work if you fish it right. It ain’t the worm, it’s the fisherman. You just gotta be patient and you gotta know where them bass are hangin’ out.
So, if you wanna catch some bass, go get yourself some rubber worms. Don’t matter if you’re a fancy fisherman or just an old lady like me. Them rubber worms, they’ll do the trick. Just remember what I told ya, and you’ll be catchin’ bass in no time.
And one more thing, you don’t need to spend a fortune on fishing gear. Just get what you need and get out there and fish. That’s what it’s all about, enjoyin’ yourself and catchin’ some fish.
