Alright, listen up, y’all! Let’s talk about catchin’ some fish in November, ‘cause that’s when the weather starts gettin’ real nippy, and some folks think the fish just disappear. But lemme tell ya, that ain’t true! Them fish gotta eat, same as us, no matter how cold it gets.
Now, I ain’t no fancy fisherman with all them expensive gears. I just use what works, what puts food on the table, you hear? So, if you’re lookin’ to catch some fish in November, pay attention!
First off, what kind of fish are we talkin’ about? Well, in November, there’s still plenty bitin’. Some folks like them flat fish. You know, the ones that kinda look like they been stepped on? Yeah, them. They say they’re real tasty, and easy to catch, too. Just gotta find the right spot, near the bottom, where they like to hang out.
- Bait for Flat Fish: Now, for bait, I just use what I can find. Sometimes it’s worms, sometimes it’s little pieces of shrimp, whatever’s around. Them flat fish ain’t too picky, long as it smells like somethin’ they wanna eat. I heard some folks use fancy lures, shiny things that wiggle and wobble, but I ain’t got time for that nonsense. Just give me a good ol’ worm, and I’m happy.
Then there’s them other fish, the ones that swim around higher up in the water. I don’t know all their fancy names, but I know how to catch ‘em. In November, when the water gets cold, they start movin’ around, lookin’ for warmer spots. So you gotta be smart, gotta think like a fish. Where would you go if you was cold? That’s where you gotta fish.
I heard some fellas talkin’ about usin’ blade baits. Said they work real good in November. They come in different colors, like white, gold, and silver. Said you gotta pick the color dependin’ on how clear the water is. If it’s all murky and cloudy, you want somethin’ bright, like gold. If it’s clear, maybe silver or white. Sounds kinda fancy to me, but if it catches fish, I ain’t complainin’.
Another thing they was talkin’ about was them swim baits. Little rubbery things that look like real fish. Said you gotta move ‘em real slow on the bottom, like they’re crawlin’ along. That makes sense, I guess. Them fish ain’t gonna chase somethin’ that’s zoomin’ around like crazy. They want an easy meal, just like us.
And don’t forget about them jigs. Heavy little things with hooks on ‘em. You can bounce ‘em on the bottom, make ‘em look like a tasty snack. Folks say you need a ½ ounce one, whatever that means. Just get one that feels heavy enough, and you’ll be alright.
- Deep Diving Jerkbaits: Then there’s the jerkbaits. Them are the ones you gotta yank and pull, make ‘em dart around like a scared little fish. Gotta get the deep divin’ kind, ‘cause the fish are gonna be hangin’ out down deep where it’s warmer.
Now, I know some folks think fish don’t bite when it’s cold. They think they just go to sleep or somethin’. But that’s just plain silly. Fish gotta eat, even when it’s cold. Maybe they ain’t as active as they are in the summer, but they still gotta eat. You just gotta be patient, gotta find the right spot, and gotta use the right bait.
And don’t forget, dress warm! November ain’t no picnic weather. You gotta bundle up, keep them hands and feet warm. Nothin’ worse than freezin’ your butt off while you’re tryin’ to catch a fish. I wear my thickest coat, my warmest hat, and my sturdiest boots. And I always bring a thermos of hot coffee, keeps me goin’ when the wind starts blowin’.
So, there you have it. My advice for catchin’ fish in November. It ain’t fancy, but it works. Just remember, find the right spot, use the right bait, and don’t give up. Them fish are out there, waitin’ for ya. Now go on, get out there and catch somethin’!
Oh and I nearly forgot, there’s them surfperch too, plenty of them around in November, though I can’t say I’ve ever gone after them myself. Folks seem to like them though.
And one last thing, don’t believe everything you hear. Just ‘cause some folks say fish don’t bite in cold weather, don’t mean it’s true. I’ve caught plenty of fish in November, and so can you. Just gotta be smarter than the fish, and that ain’t too hard, now is it?
