Alright, listen up y’all, let’s talk ’bout catchin’ them bass in the fall. Fall fishin’, it’s a whole different ball game, ya hear? Them fish, they startin’ to fatten up for winter, so they hungry, real hungry. But you gotta know what to throw at ’em, or you’ll be sittin’ there all day with an empty bucket.
First things first, let’s talk ’bout them topwater baits. You know, the ones that make a fuss on the surface. Them bass, they like to smack them things when the weather’s still kinda warm. I’m talkin’ ’bout stuff like poppers and them walkin’ baits. You gotta make it look like a little fishy or somethin’ is strugglin’ up there, and BAM! Them bass will come up and get it. Colors? Well, I like the ones that look like real little fish, you know, shad colors, bluegill colors. Sometimes a bright one works too, just gotta see what they want that day.
Now, when it gets a bit colder, them bass, they go a bit deeper. That’s when you gotta bring out the crankbaits. Them things, they dive down and wiggle around, and them bass just can’t resist. I like the ones that look like crawfish, ’cause them bass love eatin’ crawfish in the fall. Size matters too, you know. Sometimes they want a little one, sometimes they want a big ol’ mouthful. You gotta experiment, see what’s workin’. And don’t be scared to try different colors, sometimes them bright ones work even when it’s cold.
Another good one for fall is them spinnerbaits. Them things, they got that shiny blade that spins around and flashes, and that drives them bass crazy. You can fish ’em shallow, you can fish ’em deep, you can fish ’em pretty much anywhere. And they work good in the wind too, ’cause that blade makes extra noise and vibration. I like white ones, chartreuse ones, and sometimes black ones, just depends on the day and the water.
- Topwater Baits: Good for early fall when it’s still warm. Use poppers and walkin’ baits. Look for shad and bluegill colors.
- Crankbaits: Good for when it gets colder and the bass go deeper. Use crawfish patterns. Try different sizes and colors.
- Spinnerbaits: Good all-around bait for fall. Works in different depths and conditions. Use white, chartreuse, or black colors.
Now, some folks, they like to use them jerkbaits too. Them things, you gotta twitch ’em and jerk ’em, make ’em look like a hurtin’ little fish. That can really get them bass goin’, especially when they kinda sluggish. And don’t forget about them soft plastics, like them curly tail grubs and swimbaits. Them things, you can fish ’em slow and steady, and them bass will come up and suck ’em right in. I like to use white ones, or ones that look like little shad.
And listen, don’t go spendin’ a fortune on them fancy baits. Sometimes the simple stuff works just as good. A plain ol’ jig with a grub tail, that can catch just as many fish as them expensive lures. It’s all ’bout how you fish it, you know? You gotta have confidence in what you’re throwin’, and you gotta pay attention to what them fish are tellin’ you. If you ain’t gettin’ no bites, change it up! Try a different bait, try a different color, try a different spot. That’s the key to catchin’ them bass in the fall, or anytime really.
So there you have it, my two cents on them bass baits for the fall. Now get out there and go fishin’!
