Well, let me tell ya ’bout these Fenwick fly rods, the ones folks are jawin’ about. See, I ain’t no expert, just an old woman who’s seen a thing or two, and I hear things. People get all worked up about these rods, sayin’ this and that. Some good, some bad.
First off, folks keep whinin’ about the rods breakin’. Breakin’, can ya believe it? They spend good money and then snap, just like that! They say it happens when you’re whacking it against boats or trees. Well, duh! Don’t go whacking your fancy rod around like a stick! Rods ain’t made for that kinda rough stuff. Treat it gentle, like a newborn baby, and maybe it won’t break.
- Then there’s the warranty. Some folks say it’s good, others say it’s a load of hogwash. They tell you to go on their website, fill out a paper, send a picture. Sounds like a lotta hoopla to me. And then, after all that, they might just say “no.” Just like that. No new rod for you! That’s a real pisser, ain’t it?
- And this talk about “slow-action” and “fast-action.” What’s all that about? I hear some folks say the slow ones are good for dry fly fishin’. Don’t know much about that, but if they say it’s good, maybe it is. But then others want the fast ones. Seems like nobody can agree on nothin’ these days.
One fella was cryin’ ’bout a scratch on his rod. A scratch! Said it happened on a bumpy ride across the lake. Goodness gracious, it’s a fishin’ rod, not a china doll. Scratches happen. Don’t mean the rod’s gonna fall apart. People worry too much ’bout little things, if you ask me.
Now, I heard tell they stopped makin’ some of the rods. People go lookin’ for ’em and can’t find ’em nowhere. That’s a shame, ain’t it? When you find somethin’ you like, you want to stick with it. But these companies, they change things up all the time. Hard to keep track.
Another thing folks are yappin’ about is the tip. They say it breaks easy, right above the little metal thingy. Breaks easy, they say! Makes ya wonder if it’s made right. If somethin’ breaks that easy, somethin’ ain’t right. Simple as that.
And don’t even get me started on the flex. People are bendin’ their rods all kinds of ways, sayin’ it ain’t flexin’ right. I tell ya, if you’re bendin’ it wrong, of course it ain’t gonna flex right! Use it for fishin’, not for showin’ off your muscles.
Anyways, seems like there’s a lotta fuss about these Fenwick fly rods. Some love ’em, some hate ’em. Me? I just think folks need to be a little more patient, a little more careful. And stop worryin’ so much about scratches and little breaks. It’s a fishin’ rod, not a piece of jewelry. Use it to catch fish, and you’ll be happy. That’s what I say.
So, if you’re thinkin’ about gettin’ one of these Fenwick rods, just remember what I said. Treat it nice, don’t go whacking it around, and don’t fuss too much. And maybe, just maybe, you’ll have a good time fishin’ with it.
