Alright, let’s talk about this fishin’ stuff down in Garibaldi. I heard some folks catchin’ some big ones, so I figured I’d tell ya what I know, ya know? Like, what them city folks call a “report”.
First off, some days, they let ya fish for free! Can ya believe that? Free fishin’! Like, in June and then again around Thanksgiving. You don’t even need no fancy license to go catchin’ fish, crabs, or them clams. But listen, even if it’s free, you still gotta follow the rules, ya hear? Don’t go trespassin’ on nobody’s land and do whatever you please, that ain’t right.
Now, ’round here, they got all kinds of fish. Them big ol’ Chinook salmon, they call ’em kings, and the Coho salmon, the silvers. Them’s the ones most folks like catchin’. But there’s other kinds too, like pink, chum, and sockeye. Them Chinooks, they’re the biggest, let me tell ya.
Springtime, that’s when the fishin’ starts gettin’ good. March, that’s when things warm up a bit, and the fish start bitin’. Redfish, speckled trout, flounder… all them good eatin’ fish. Water gets clear, too, after the winter, makes it easier to see them slippery critters. You need clear water, see? Otherwise you can’t see nothin’. How you gonna catch a fish you can’t even see?
I heard tell of some folks goin’ out for eight days straight, fishin’ for Coho. Can ya imagine? Eight whole days! They musta caught a boatload. They was parked down at that RV place in Garibaldi, all set up. That’s what you gotta do, be prepared. Don’t go out there with nothin’.
- You need your poles.
- You need your bait.
- You need your snacks! Can’t forget them.
Fishin’ ain’t just throwin’ a line in the water, ya know.
Heard some talk about Garibaldi bein’ busy on the weekends. Lots of folks goin’ out, especially on Sundays. Parking can get crazy, so ya gotta get there early if ya wanna find a good spot. I also heard that no one been tuny fishin’ for a while outta Garibaldi, though.
Now, they got tides and all that fancy stuff to think about too. Meters or feet, they measure the water goin’ up and down. And the weather, that matters too. Gotta know if it’s gonna be hot or cold, windy or calm. All that stuff affects the fishin’ ya know. You don’t wanna be out there in a storm, do ya?
So, if you’re thinkin’ ’bout goin’ fishin’ in Garibaldi, you might wanna check out some of them fishin’ reports online. They tell ya what’s bitin’ and where to go. But sometimes, just talkin’ to the folks down at the docks is the best way to find out what’s goin’ on. Them fellas know what they’re talkin’ about. They fish every day!
And remember, even if ya don’t catch nothin’, it’s still a good day to be out on the water. Fresh air, sunshine… can’t beat it. Well, unless ya catch a big ol’ salmon, then that’s even better!
That’s all I got to say about this fishin’ report thing. Hope it helps ya catch some fish. Good luck out there!
