Alright, let’s yak about this Abu Garcia 6500 reel. I ain’t no fancy fisherman, mind you, but I’ve used a reel or two in my day. And this here reel, well, it’s somethin’ else.
First off, they say it’s “Made in Sweden”. Don’t know much about Sweden, but them folks must know a thing or two about makin’ reels, ’cause this thing is tough as nails. I’ve hauled in some big ol’ fish with it, and it ain’t never let me down. You know, the kind of fish that’d snap your line and your pole if you weren’t careful.
Now, some folks like them fancy handles. They got these “Power Handles” for the Abu Garcia Ambassadeur C3, C4, S, SX, 5000, all the way up to 6600. They say it helps with the big catfish, and I reckon it does. But me? I just use the regular handle, and it works just fine. I ain’t got no need for all that fancy stuff.
I seen some of these reels on that eBay, you know, the place where they sell everything. They got all sorts of colors, like red and blue. And they call ’em “Abu Garcia Ambassadeur 6500CS Rocket Super Fishing Reel”. Sounds mighty fancy, don’t it? But it’s still just a reel, far as I’m concerned. A good reel, mind you, but a reel nonetheless.
I’ve used the “Abu Garcia Ambassadeur 6500-C3 Baitcaster” too. Used ones, mostly. Can’t be wastin’ good money on brand new stuff when a used one works just as good. You gotta be smart with your money, you know? Ain’t nobody givin’ it away for free.
- It’s strong, that’s for sure. Like I said, I’ve hauled in some big fish with this reel.
- It casts real smooth too. You can get that line out there far, where the big ones are hidin’.
- And it’s easy to use. Even an old lady like me can figure it out. No fancy buttons or nothin’. Just a good, solid reel.
I heard some folks complainin’ about the “fishing reels” these days, sayin’ they ain’t made like they used to be. But this Abu Garcia 6500, well, it’s an exception. It’s a workhorse. It’ll last you a long time, if you take care of it. You gotta clean it every now and then, oil it up, you know, the usual stuff.
Now, I ain’t gonna lie to you, it ain’t the cheapest reel out there. But you get what you pay for, that’s what I always say. And this here reel is worth every penny. It’s an investment, you see? Somethin’ you can pass down to your grandkids, if they’re into fishin’.
And let me tell you somethin’ else about this Abu Garcia brand. They been around for a long time. That means somethin’, don’t it? They ain’t some fly-by-night company that’s gonna disappear tomorrow. They know what they’re doin’, and they make good stuff. That’s the long and short of it.
So, if you’re lookin’ for a good, reliable reel, you can’t go wrong with the Abu Garcia 6500. It’s a tough reel, a smooth reel, and an easy-to-use reel. And that’s all you need, far as I’m concerned. Don’t need no fancy gadgets or gizmos. Just a good reel, and a little bit of luck. And maybe some worms, if you’re goin’ after catfish.
And one more thing, when you’re buying one of these Abu Garcia 6500 reels, make sure you look around a bit. Don’t just buy the first one you see. You might be able to find a good deal, you know, a used one that’s in good shape. And that’s the best kind, in my opinion. Somebody else done broke it in for you, and you can get it for a cheaper price.
Alright, I reckon that’s about all I got to say about the Abu Garcia 6500 reel. It’s a good reel, plain and simple. If you’re a fisherman, or even just a beginner, it’ll do you right. Now, go on and get yourself one, and go catch some fish!
