Alright, alright, let me tell ya somethin’ about catchin’ them good bass. You know, them big ones, the ones that make your heart jump when you pull ’em outta the water. Yeah, them.
First off, don’t go thinkin’ you need fancy stuff. You just need to know where to look. Them bass, they like rocks, but not them giant ones, ya hear? Think small rocks, like gravel. Why gravel? ‘Cause all sorts of stuff gets stuck in gravel, little fishies and crawly things the bass love to eat. Plus, it’s a good place for them to make babies, especially the smallmouth ones. So, look for gravel, that’s the first thing.
Now, when’s the best time to catch ’em? Afternoon, gettin’ close to when the sun goes down. Like, from 6 o’clock till it gets dark. That’s when them bass are swimmin’ around lookin’ for dinner. The sun ain’t too bright then, so the bass can see better than them little fishies they’re chasin’. Makes it easier for them to catch somethin’, and easier for you to catch them!
- Find them rocks, small ones, like gravel.
- Wait till afternoon, gettin’ close to dark.
Where to go? Well, there’s them famous lakes, everybody knows about them. Okeechobee, Sam Rayburn, Lake Erie, Toledo Bend, Buggs Island, Lake Fork, Santee-Cooper. Big names, lots of fish. But there’s other places too, not so famous, but just as good. Clear Lake and the Cal Delta out in California. Good fishin’ in them places too. Don’t just stick to the famous spots, look around!
Now, what to use to catch ’em? Well, lots of folks like them soft baits these days. They wiggle around in the water, look like somethin’ tasty. But you gotta know what kind of little fishies them bass are eatin’ in the place you’re fishin’. That’s important. If the water’s cold, like fifty degrees or less, them bass are eatin’ different things than when it’s warm. Find out what they like, use somethin’ that looks like it.
And then there’s the stick bait. That’s a good one. Been around forever, everybody uses it. It’s like the bread and butter of bass fishin’. Simple, but it works. Don’t gotta be fancy, just gotta know how to use it. Wiggle it around, make it look like a little fish swimmin’. Bass can’t resist!
You wanna learn how to catch big bass? Gotta practice, gotta pay attention. Watch them fish, see what they’re doin’. Read them tutorials, learn from the folks who know what they’re talkin’ about. But most importantly, get out there and fish. That’s the only way you’re gonna get good at it.
So, remember, gravel, afternoon, know what they eat, and don’t be afraid to try different things. And don’t forget that stick bait! Go on now, get out there and catch yourself some good bass!
