Alright, let’s talk about this Lew’s Reactor Spinning Combo, you know, the fishing rod and reel thingy. I ain’t no fancy expert or nothin’, but I’ve been fishin’ since I was knee-high to a grasshopper, so I know a thing or two about catchin’ fish. This here combo, well, it’s somethin’ else. Not too pricey, but not too cheap neither. Kinda like Goldilocks, just right.
First off, that reel, it’s smooth, real smooth. Like butter meltin’ on a hot biscuit. They say it’s got somethin’ called a 10-bearing system. I don’t know what all that means, but I reckon it’s why it spins so nice and easy. No clunkin’ or grindin’ like some of them old reels I used to have. And it’s got a 6.2:1 gear ratio. Again, don’t ask me what that is, but it pulls in the line pretty darn quick. You can get that fish in fast before it wiggles off your hook.
The spool, that’s the thingy that holds the line, it’s made of aluminum and it’s got these little knobby things on it. Makes it easy to grip, even when your hands are all wet and slimy from baitin’ the hook. And get this, you can switch it around to reel with your left hand or your right hand. I always use my right, but I guess it’s good for them left-handed folks. You know, my cousin Ernie, he’s left-handed, always tangled his line somethin’ fierce, maybe this would’ve helped him.
- Smooth reeling, like butter.
- Fast line pickup, so you don’t lose your fish.
- Easy to hold, even when wet.
- Good for righties or lefties.
Now, the rod, that’s the long stick part. This one’s seven foot long, and it’s a medium action. That means it’s not too stiff and not too floppy. Just right for most fishin’ around here. I’ve caught everything from little bluegills to some pretty decent bass with it. It ain’t gonna break on ya, unless you hook into a whale or somethin’. It’s made of somethin’ called IM8 graphite, which I guess is some fancy word for strong and light. It feels good in your hand, not too heavy so you can hold it all day without your arm gettin’ tired.
I hear some folks sayin’ this combo is a mix of a sixty-dollar rod and a forty-dollar reel. I ain’t sure about the exact numbers, but it feels like a good deal to me. You get a whole lot of fishin’ power for your money. I saw some other Lew’s combos at the store, the Mach Jacked and the Mach Crush and all that, but they were way too expensive for me. This Reactor, it’s just right for my pocketbook.
And compared to some other cheap rods I’ve used, this thing is miles better. My old rod, that thing was like a wet noodle, you could barely feel the fish biting. This Reactor, you can feel everything. You know the instant a fish touches your bait. Makes it a whole lot easier to set the hook and reel ‘em in. I’ve even got a Lew’s baitcaster too, an Xfinity, but this Reactor spinning combo is even better, I think, especially for the price. It only costs a little more, like 10 or 20 dollars more, but it’s a big improvement, that IM8 thing makes a difference, you know?
I even saw some other Lew’s combo, the Speed Spin, and the Laser Speed. They seem alright, I guess, but this Reactor, it just feels right to me. It’s got enough bearings, and it’s made of that IM8 graphite, so I figure it’s a step up from those other ones. The important thing is, it catches fish. And that’s all that matters to me.
So, if you’re lookin’ for a good fishin’ combo that won’t break the bank, this Lew’s Reactor is a pretty good bet. It’s easy to use, it’s tough, and it catches fish. What more could you want? Go on down to the store and get yourself one, you won’t be disappointed. Just remember, you heard it from me, an old lady who knows a thing or two about catchin’ fish.
