Well, lemme tell ya somethin’ about fishin’ in that there Lake St. Clair. Folks say it’s some of the best bass fishin’ around, and I reckon they ain’t wrong.
Now, I ain’t no fancy fisherman with all them fancy rods and reels, but I know a thing or two about catchin’ bass. First thing you gotta know is where to find ’em. Them smallmouth bass, they like the rocky areas, ya know? Places where they can hide and ambush their food. Anchor Bay, that’s a good spot for ’em. And them largemouth? They like the weeds and the shallows. Plenty of those around the lake, too.
- Smallmouth bass like rocks.
- Largemouth bass like weeds and shallows.
Now, what you use to catch ’em, that’s important too. Some folks like them fancy lures, all shiny and colorful. But I say, good ol’ live bait works just fine. Worms, minnows, crawdads, they all do the trick. Just gotta know how to hook ’em and how to present ’em to the fish.
Fishin’ ain’t just about throwin’ a line in the water and hopin’ for the best. You gotta pay attention to the weather, the water temperature, the time of day. Them fish, they got their habits, just like us. They eat at certain times, they hang out in certain places, depends on the weather and all. Gotta be smart about it, ya see?
Folks talk about Mitchell’s Bay, over on the Canadian side. They say the fishin’ there is real good too. Never been myself, but I hear tell of some monster walleye bein’ caught over there. Now, walleye, that’s a tasty fish. But we’re talkin’ ’bout bass here, ain’t we?
Now, somethin’ you gotta be mindful of is the eatin’ guidelines. They say you shouldn’t eat too much of certain fish outta the lake. Something about chemicals and such. Bluegills, they say you can eat a few servings a month. Carp and catfish, not so much. Best to check them guidelines before you go fillin’ up your freezer. Ain’t nothin’ worse than gettin’ sick from eatin’ bad fish.
And don’t forget about the trout. They got rainbow trout and brown trout in that lake, year-round. Folks like fishin’ for them too. But like I said, we’re here to talk about bass. Plenty of them to go around, smallmouth, largemouth, black crappie, yellow perch, all sorts of fish in that there lake.
So, if you’re lookin’ to do some bass fishin’, Lake St. Clair is a good place to go. Plenty of fish, plenty of spots to fish, and plenty of folks who love to fish there too. Just remember to be respectful of the lake, follow the rules, and don’t leave a mess behind. We gotta keep that lake clean for the fish and for the folks who come after us. And who knows, maybe you’ll catch yourself a big ol’ bass and have a fish fry to remember.
