Alright, let’s talk about fishin’ at that Lake Taneycomo. I ain’t no fancy fisherman, just tellin’ ya what I know.
What Kinda Bait to Use?
Well now, in the winter and spring, them little shad fishies come down from Table Rock Lake into Taneycomo. Trout love eatin’ ’em up. If you ain’t got no shad, get some minnows. They work just as good, maybe even better for catchin’ the bigger trout. And them brown trout, they go crazy for minnows more than anything else. So, stock up on minnows, ya hear?
Where to Find Them Fish?
You see them two gravel points across the lake? Fish like to hang around there, on ’em and below ’em. You can drift your boat across with bait, or throw them lures around. That whole area is good for driftin’. There’s spots where the water ain’t too deep, maybe five to seven feet when they ain’t lettin’ out too much water. That’s perfect for usin’ a jig and a float. You know, bobber fishin’, simple and easy.
- North Beach Fishin’: That North Beach is up at the north end of the Branson Landing. Park your car down by Belk and walk on that paved path down to the docks. Fish around there, it’s a good spot.
How’s the Fishin’ Been Lately?
Folks fishin’ off their docks say it’s been kinda hit or miss. Sometimes good, sometimes not so good. Nightcrawlers been workin’ best for them. But if you wanna catch a bunch of fish, you better go with a guide.
I heard about this Captain B’s Fishin’ Guide Service. Gregg’s family went out with ’em and had a real good mornin’. Caught a whole mess of fish, mostly usin’ flies under a float. Sounds like them guides know what they’re doin’. They say they been catchin’ 30-40 trout in just four hours. That’s a lot of fish! And some big brown trout been showin’ up too.
Some Other Things to Keep in Mind
You gotta pay attention to the water, ya know. Sometimes they let out more water from the dam, sometimes less. That changes where the fish are and how they’re bitin’. And the weather, that matters too. Sunny days, cloudy days, windy days, it all makes a difference.
But the main thing is, just get out there and fish. Don’t worry too much about havin’ the fanciest gear or knowin’ all the fancy tricks. Just put some bait on a hook and throw it in the water. You might get lucky and catch a big one. And even if you don’t, it’s still a good way to spend a day, out in the fresh air, enjoyin’ nature.
And remember, be patient. Fishin’ ain’t always about catchin’ fish. It’s about relaxin’ and havin’ a good time. So, grab your pole, pack a lunch, and head on down to Lake Taneycomo. You might just have the best fishin’ trip of your life. And if you see an old lady sittin’ on the dock, that might be me, so come say hello! Just don’t expect me to know all the fancy fishin’ terms. I just fish the way I fish, simple and plain.
Lake Taneycomo Fishin’ Report Summary: So, to sum it all up, use minnows or shad if you can get ’em, fish around the gravel points and North Beach, and consider hiring a guide if you want to catch a whole lot of fish. And don’t forget your nightcrawlers! Now get out there and go fishin’!
