Well, hey there! Let’s talk about fishin’ in Lake Vermilion. I heard some folks sayin’ it’s a real good spot, so I figured I’d tell ya what I know.
Fishin’ in Lake Vermilion: What’s the Big Deal?
First off, this lake, it’s got a whole mess of fish. I mean, lots of ’em! Folks come from all over, just to throw a line in the water here. They say there’s walleye, and them big ol’ northern pike, and some bass too. Sounds like a fish fry waitin’ to happen, right?
Now, if you’re after them walleye, that’s what most folks want, I hear. They got rules though, you can’t just keep anythin’. Gotta be a certain size, and you can’t take too many. Somethin’ about keepin’ the lake full of fish for years to come. Makes sense, I guess.
- Walleye: These are the big shots, the ones everyone wants. Gotta fish ’em smart, though.
- Northern Pike: Big, mean-lookin’ things. Fun to catch, if you can handle ’em.
- Bass: Got yer smallmouth and largemouth. Small ones are all over, but the big ones, they like certain spots.
Where to Find Them Fish
Lake Vermilion’s a big ol’ lake. Longest shoreline you ever did see, and islands everywhere. So, findin’ the fish, well, that’s the tricky part, ain’t it? But some folks, they know where to go. They talk about “deep weed lines,” specially in the summer when it gets hot. Sounds like a good place for them fish to hide, I reckon.
Mornin’s and evenin’s are best, that’s what they say. Specially for walleye. You gotta get up early or stay out late, if you wanna catch the good ones. And trollin’ slow, that’s the ticket. Use them leeches and crawlers, they say the fish love ’em. Drag ’em along them weed lines, in about 10 or 12 feet of water.
West side, East side, it all matters. They say west side of the lake got more fish but east side got bigger ones. If you after bass, some places in the west side are good. And there is that big lake and little lake, some call it West Vermilion and East Vermilion, its all the same to me. You catch my drift?
More Than Just Fishin’
You know, this lake, it’s more than just fishin’. It’s pretty too. Real pretty. The kind of place you can just sit and watch the water. Sunsets are somethin’ special, I hear. And it’s good for the folks ’round here too. Brings in money, keeps the town goin’. So, it’s important to keep it nice, ya know?
Tips for Fishin’ Lake Vermilion, the way I see it
Now, I ain’t no fancy fishin’ expert, but I got some common sense, ya know? So here’s what I’d say:
- Get yourself a map: This lake’s big, you don’t wanna get lost. And them maps, they might even show you where the fish are bitin’.
- Talk to the locals: Stop by the bait shop, or the diner. Them folks know the lake better than anyone. They might give you a tip or two.
- Be patient: Fishin’ ain’t always easy. Sometimes you gotta sit there a while, waitin’ for the fish to bite. Don’t give up too easy.
- Respect the lake: Don’t leave your trash around. And follow the rules, ‘specially about how many fish you can keep. We gotta keep this lake nice for everyone.
- Use the right bait: I already told ya, leeches and crawlers are good for walleye. But different fish like different things. Ask around, figure out what they’re bitin’ on.
So, there you have it. That’s what I know about fishin’ in Lake Vermilion. It sounds like a good place to wet a line, catch some fish, and enjoy the scenery. Just remember what I said, and you should be alright. Good luck, and happy fishin’!
Oh and one more thing, they have fishing tournaments, lots of them. So I guess the fishin’ is real good if they have so many of these things, I never been to one myself, but my son he loves them.
Now get out there and catch some fish, but dont tell em I told ya where to go!
