Alright, let’s talk about catchin’ them bass in the fall, ya hear? Fall fishin’ can be real good, but ya gotta know what them fish want. I ain’t no fancy fisherman, but I’ve caught my share, that’s for sure.
Now, them bass, they gettin’ ready for winter, see? They startin’ to fatten up, chasin’ baitfish. So, ya gotta use lures that look like what they eatin’. Makes sense, right?
Best Fall Fishin’ Lures for Bass, Ya Hear?
- Swimbaits: These things, they look like real little fish, swimmin’ all natural-like. The bass, they can’t resist ’em. Get the ones that wobble good, ya know? Not too big, not too small. Just right.
- Jerkbaits: These are good too. Ya twitch ’em, make ’em look like a hurtin’ little fish. Bass love that, easy meal, ya know? Try different colors, see what they likin’ that day.
- Topwater Lures: Oh, these are fun! Especially early in the mornin’ or late in the evenin’, when the water’s calm. You throw ’em out, make ’em pop and splash, and BAM! Bass comes up and smacks it. It’s a real sight, I tell ya.
Now, when to fish is important too. In the fall, it gets colder, right? So them bass, they ain’t always bitin’ early in the mornin’ like they do in the summer. Sometimes, they bite better in the middle of the day, when the sun warms things up a bit.
And sometimes, just before the sun goes down, they go crazy. I’ve seen it happen many a time. They start chasin’ baitfish like it’s a free-for-all. That’s when ya wanna be out there, castin’ your line.
But listen here, when them nights get real cold, like in the 40s and 50s, then you gotta change things up. Forget about early mornin’. Fish in the middle of the day or late afternoon. That’s when them bass are gonna be most active.
Mornin’ and evenin’ can still be good for topwater, though. If it’s a nice, calm day, give it a try. Ya might just catch a big ‘un.
Let’s talk about colors, too. In the fall, the water gets clearer, see? So, them bass can see better. You wanna use lures that look natural, like shad or minnows. Silver, white, and blue are good colors. Sometimes, a little bit of chartreuse can help too, make it stand out a little bit.
And don’t forget about the size of your lure. Match the size of your lure to the size of the baitfish that the bass are eatin’. If they’re eatin’ little tiny minnows, use a small lure. If they’re eatin’ bigger shad, use a bigger lure. It ain’t rocket science, ya know?
Now, where to fish? Well, in the fall, them bass start movin’ around, followin’ them baitfish. You wanna look for places where the baitfish are gonna be. Like, near creek mouths, or along weed lines, or around points and drop-offs. That’s where the bass are gonna be hangin’ out, waitin’ for a meal.
And don’t be afraid to try different things. If one lure ain’t workin’, try another one. If one spot ain’t producin’, move to another spot. That’s the key to fishin’, ya gotta keep tryin’ till ya find what works.
So, there ya have it. Some of my best tips for catchin’ bass in the fall. I ain’t no expert, but I’ve caught a lot of fish in my day. Just remember, keep it simple, use lures that look like baitfish, and fish when the bass are bitin’. And most importantly, have fun! That’s what fishin’ is all about, ya hear?
One more thing, don’t forget to check your local fishin’ regulations. Make sure you got the right license and you’re followin’ all the rules. Don’t wanna get in trouble with the game warden, now do ya?
Good luck out there, and tight lines!
