Well, howdy there, y’all! Let me tell ya ’bout this Galesville Reservoir place out in Azalea, Oregon. It ain’t nothin’ fancy, mind you, but it’s right purdy in its own way. They say it’s a water storage reservoir, which I reckon means it holds a whole heap of water. Probably for them city folks down the way, not that I rightly know. It’s up in them Klamath Mountains, which is a whole lotta rocks and trees, if you ask me.
Now, I ain’t never been one for big words, but they call it a “lake, reservoir, impoundment” over in Douglas County. Sounds like a mouthful to me. All I know is, it’s a big ol’ patch of water where you can go and sit a spell. It’s peaceful-like, ya know? Just you and the water and maybe a few birds squawkin’ overhead.
They got this place called Chief Miwaleta Campground right there overlookin’ the water. It’s real nice, they say. Got them little cabin things you can rent. I ain’t never stayed in one myself, mind you. I’m more of a tent person, if I’m gonna be sleepin’ outside. But them cabins look comfy enough, I reckon. Good for folks who don’t like the bugs gettin’ at ‘em, I suppose.
- They got cabins for rentin’.
- The campground’s got a real nice view.
- It’s in Azalea, Oregon.
The thing about this Galesville Reservoir is, it’s just…pretty. That’s the best word I got for it. The water’s all sparkly sometimes, and the trees around it are tall and green. It’s a good place to just sit and think, or not think at all, which is what I prefer most days. Too much thinkin’ ain’t good for nobody, that’s what I always say.
Now, they got them rhododendrons and azaleas growin’ all over the place up there in the Northwest. Them flowers, they’re somethin’ else. Real bright and colorful. I ain’t no gardener, but even I can appreciate a purdy flower when I see one. They say them plants love it up here, all that rain and whatnot. Makes ‘em grow big and strong, I guess.
I heard tell that Galesville Reservoir is a good spot for fishin’. Now, I ain’t much of a fisherwoman myself. Too much sittin’ around waitin’ for me. But I know some folks who swear by it. They say there’s all kinds of fish in there, though I couldn’t tell ya what kind. Fish is fish, as far as I’m concerned. You cook it up right, it all tastes good.
And let me tell you, it ain’t just the fishin’ that’s good. The air’s clean, the water’s clear… mostly… and it’s just a good place to get away from it all. Away from the noise and the fuss of the towns. You can just breathe and be yourself out there. Nobody’s botherin’ you, nobody’s tellin’ you what to do. It’s freedom, plain and simple.
So, if you ever find yourself out in Oregon way, you might wanna go take a look at this Galesville Reservoir. It ain’t no Disneyland, mind you, but it’s got its own charm. It’s a place where you can slow down, take a deep breath, and just appreciate the simple things in life. Like a purdy view, a quiet moment, and maybe a fish or two, if you’re lucky.
Galesville Reservoir ain’t famous or nothin’, but it’s a good place, a real good place. And sometimes, that’s all that matters. Just a peaceful spot to while away an afternoon, ya know?
And that’s all I gotta say about that. It’s just a nice place, nothin’ more, nothin’ less. Go see it for yourself if you don’t believe me.
