Well, let me tell ya ’bout this Lake Selmac place in Oregon. It ain’t nothin’ fancy, mind you, but it’s a good place to get away from all the hustle and bustle.
Lake Selmac: What’s It All About?
First off, this Lake Selmac, it’s the only lake they got in Josephine County. Yep, the only one. They say it’s a big ol’ lake, the biggest around here. You can do all sorts of things there, like fishin’. My grandpappy, he loved fishin’. Said it calmed his nerves. They got bass, catfish, bluegill, and all them other kinds of fish. Even some big ol’ trout they put in there every year. I heard tell some fella even caught a record-breakin’ bass in that lake! Imagine that!
And if fishin’ ain’t your thing, well, you can go sailin’ or boatin’. I ain’t never been on no boat myself, gets me kinda seasick just thinkin’ about it. But folks seem to like it. They also got swimmin’, which is nice on a hot day. Kids love it, splashin’ around and makin’ a big ol’ mess.
Camping and Such
Now, if you wanna stay a while, they got places to camp. You can bring your own tent or even rent one of them yurt things. I ain’t never slept in one, but they look kinda cozy. You can make a reservation online or on the phone, which is handy. They got fees and policies and all that, but that’s how it is everywhere these days.

Outdoorsy Stuff
If you like bein’ outdoors, Lake Selmac’s got plenty to do. They got these nature trails you can walk on. Good for stretchin’ your legs and gettin’ some fresh air. And if you’re into birds, you can do some bird watchin’. I ain’t no expert, but I do like seein’ them little fellas flit around. They say there’s places to ride bikes and horses too. Sounds like fun if you’re into that sort of thing.
Other Things to Know
They got picnic areas too, so you can pack a lunch and eat outside. And if you’re feelin’ competitive, they got disc golf and horseshoe pits. Never tried disc golf myself, looks kinda like frisbee but with more rules. Horseshoes, now that’s somethin’ I can understand. Just toss it and hope it lands right.
There’s also this Kerby Peak Trail nearby, if you want a good hike. And Lake Selmac Resort, they got a big campground with lots of spots. So, there’s plenty of room for everyone, I reckon.
Plannin’ Your Trip
Now, if you’re plannin’ on goin’, you might wanna look into them hotels and stuff. They say you can find some good deals on Tripadvisor. Some of them places even got free WiFi and swimmin’ pools. Fancy stuff, for sure.
It’s a Good Place, Ya Know
So, that’s Lake Selmac in a nutshell. It ain’t nothin’ fancy, but it’s a good place to relax and enjoy the outdoors. You can fish, swim, camp, hike, or just sit around and do nothin’. It’s up to you. Just remember to bring your bug spray, them skeeters can be fierce sometimes.
And don’t forget your manners. Always be polite and respectful to folks, that’s what my mama always said. And clean up after yourself, nobody likes a messy camper. Treat the place right, and it’ll treat you right back. That’s what I always say.
So, if you’re lookin’ for a quiet getaway in Oregon, Lake Selmac might just be the place for you. It ain’t perfect, but it’s got its charms. And sometimes, that’s all you need.
