Salmon Hey Dudes, What’s All the Fuss About?
Alright, alright, listen up you young’uns. This whole “salmon hey dudes” thing, it’s got folks all riled up, ain’t it? I seen it on that… that… what do you call it? The picture box? Yeah, the internet thingy. All these pictures and talk about salmon and “hey dudes.” Makes a body wonder what’s goin’ on.
Now, I ain’t no fancy scholar or nothin’, but I heard tell of some old story, somethin’ about a fella named… Finn or somethin’. Yeah, Fionn Mac Cool, that’s it. Seems this Finn was fishin’, mindin’ his own business, when he yanks up this big ol’ salmon. Big as your arm, I tell ya! And just when he’s about to give it the ol’ whap on the head, the dang fish opens its mouth and yells, “Holy smokes! It’s Dave!”
Can you believe that? A talkin’ salmon! Now, I seen some strange things in my day, but a fish callin’ a fella by name? That’s a new one. Anyways, that’s what this “salmon hey dudes” thing reminds me of. All these folks makin’ pictures and whatnot, like that salmon just surprised ’em. “Hey dude!” it’s sayin’, “Didn’t expect to see me here, did ya?”
- It’s like that time old Billy Bob snuck up on me in the hen house. Scared the bejesus outta me, he did. “Hey there,” he says, all goofy-like. Near ’bout laid an egg myself, I did.
- Or that time the cow got loose and ended up in the Mayor’s prize-winning petunias. “Well hey there, Bessie,” the Mayor says, all red-faced and mad. Bessie just looked at him and kept on chewin’. Cows, they don’t care much for “hey dudes,” I reckon.
But this salmon thing, it’s different. It’s like… it’s like a surprise, a shock, somethin’ unexpected. You think you’re just gonna have a regular day, and then BAM! “Hey dude!” A salmon pops up, a funny picture, a silly meme, whatever. It shakes things up a bit, makes ya chuckle, makes ya think.
And that ain’t a bad thing, you know? Life gets awful dull sometimes, what with all the chores and the worries and the aches and pains. A little “hey dude” now and then, a little surprise, a little somethin’ to make you smile… well, that’s good for the soul, I say.
I see these young folks makin’ all sorts of these “hey dude” pictures. They put words on ’em, little jokes, funny faces. Some of ’em I don’t even understand, all that fancy talk and inside jokes. But I get the gist of it. It’s about sharin’ a laugh, connectin’ with folks, makin’ somethin’ outta nothin’.
Why Salmon Though?
Now, why a salmon? That’s the real head-scratcher. Coulda been a catfish, coulda been a trout, coulda even been a good ol’ carp. But no, it’s a salmon. Maybe it’s ’cause they’re kinda special, you know? They swim upstream, against the flow. They fight hard to get where they need to go. Maybe that’s the message, huh? Life throws you a curveball, yells “hey dude!” at ya, and you gotta fight back, swim upstream, make the best of it.
Or maybe it’s just ’cause salmon are funny lookin’. With those big eyes and that goofy grin, they do look like they’re about to say somethin’ silly. “Hey dude, wanna race?” “Hey dude, got any worms?” Who knows what a salmon’s thinkin’?
The End of the Matter
Anyways, whatever the reason, this “salmon hey dudes” thing, it seems to make folks happy. And that’s good enough for me. So next time you see one of them pictures, or hear someone yell “hey dude!” just remember that talkin’ salmon and ol’ Finn Mac Cool. And remember to smile. Life’s too short to be serious all the time. A little “hey dude” now and then, that’s what keeps us goin’.
