Alright, so you wanna know about them Bandon Oregon tides, huh? Well, let me tell ya, it’s all about the water goin’ up and down, just like life, I tell ya. Sometimes it’s high, sometimes it’s low, gotta learn to live with it, just like the weeds in my garden.
First off, them tides in Bandon, they happen on the Coquille River. That’s a big ol’ river, flows right into the ocean. And that ocean, she’s the boss of them tides, pullin’ and pushin’ the water all day and all night. It’s the moon, they say, pullin’ on the water like a string on a puppet. Don’t ask me how it works, it just does.
Now, you got your high tide and your low tide. High tide, that’s when the water comes way up, covers up all them rocks and things on the beach. Low tide, that’s when the water goes way out, leaves all them rocks and things bare for you to see. And in between, the water’s always movin’, either comin’ in or goin’ out. It ain’t never still, just like them kids down the road.
- High tide, water’s up.
- Low tide, water’s down.
- In between, water’s movin’. Simple as that.
You wanna know when the high tide and low tide is gonna be? Well, you gotta look at a tide chart. They got these fancy charts that tell you exactly when the water’s gonna be up and when it’s gonna be down. You can find ‘em online, or maybe down at the fishin’ store. They got all sorts of numbers and times on ‘em, but it’s not too hard to figure out once you get the hang of it. It’s like bakin’ a pie, gotta follow the recipe.
Now, them tides, they change every day. Sometimes the high tide is real high, and sometimes it’s not so high. Same goes for the low tide. It all depends on the moon and the sun and all that stuff. It’s like the weather, always changin’, never the same two days in a row. And the tide goes up and down more than once a day too. It might be high in the mornin’, then low in the afternoon, then high again at night. Keeps ya on your toes, that’s for sure.
Why do you care about the tides anyway? Well, if you’re gonna go fishin’, you gotta know the tides. Them fish, they like to bite better at certain tides. And if you’re gonna go clammin’, you gotta go at low tide, when all them clams are exposed. And if you’re just gonna go walkin’ on the beach, well, you gotta know the tides so you don’t get stuck out there when the water comes in! I remember one time, young Billy got stuck out on them rocks, had to holler for help. Scared the daylights outta me!
They say the tide range in Bandon, that’s how much the water goes up and down, is about seven feet or so. That’s a pretty good amount, I reckon. Means you gotta be careful when you’re near the water. Don’t want to get swept away, now, do ya? The ocean, she’s powerful, gotta respect her. Just like you gotta respect a good rainstorm or a hot summer day.
So, that’s about all I know about them Bandon Oregon tides. They go up, they go down, and they keep on doin’ it day after day. It’s just nature doin’ its thing. And you gotta learn to live with it, just like everything else in life. Now, go on and enjoy that beach, but keep an eye on that water, ya hear? And don’t forget your sunscreen.
